Madeleine snorted inwardly.
She didn’t think Kristin was stupid enough to let Vincent take the blame.
“I’ve always thought joining Marvel Jewelry was the luckiest thing that has ever happened to me. I love my job. Though unlike other designers, I didn’t have a fancy educational background or come from other famous jewelry companies, I believe I can make it big in the Design Department with my talent and hard work. Are you gonna strip me of all I’ve earned over a small dispute? Is that really fair?”
As she said, she couldn’t help but feel sad and aggrieved. She crouched down, buried her face in her knees, and started to cry.
Vincent felt speechless.
Being accused of something he didn’t do irritated him.
“Stop crying,” he said.

But Madeleine totally ignored him and continued to cry. Her cries echoed in the air, annoying him utterly. He couldn’t help but spring to his feet, rush over to her, and lift her up.
“Don’t cry, or I’ll fire you.”
Frightened, she shivered and bit her lip hard.

her cheeks, and trying hard not to cry made her shoulders tremble.
As Vincent saw this, his heart ached for some reason.

“I’ve always separated work from personal matters. Never once have I let feelings sway a work decision. Your speculation is ridiculous,” he said.
Madeleine sniffed. “Ms. Henson told me this was your order, and she was simply carrying it out. You’re the big boss. Why would she frame you?”
After a brief pause, Vincent immediately walked to the desk, snatched up the landline, and asked Kristin to come into his office.
Now that he and his reputation were involved, this was a serious matter, and he had to deal with it seriously.
“Go behind the bookshelf,” he ordered.
Madeleine immediately caught his drift, went behind the bookshelf, and couldn’t help but wonder.
“Vincent is going to confront Kristin?
“Is there something more to this?”
Soon, Kristin entered the office.
Vincent looked at her, his expression as icy as ever.
“Any explanations for Madeleine’s performance review?”
Kristin felt a cold sweat trickle down her spine. She had always thought Madeleine was timid, yet Madeleine was bold enough to complain directly to Vincent, the CEO.
She explained, “Ms. Deleon called me a few days ago, saying Madeleine

had pissed you off and wanting me to think of something to get rid of her. Madeleine is your employee, and given this, of course, she deserved an E. That’s how she got the rating.”
A trace of anger passed through Vincent’s eyes.
Madilyn was behind this. This was another of her tricks!
“You believe whatever she feeds you? You’re a director here. Don’t you have even the most basic judgment?” he questioned.
Kristin’s face turned slightly pale. “Ms. Deleon is your fiancee. I thought her words represented yours.”
“No one gets to represent me, let alone an outsider.”
Vincent’s voice was utterly icy, dripping with absolute authority.
Kristin couldn’t help but shiver. “I was wrong. This was such a stupid mistake. Mr. Romero, could you give me another chance? I’ve been working hard and contributing to the company for years. I promise I’ll do some serious reflection and won’t make such mistakes again.”
After a moment of silence, Vincent said coldly, “Wait for the
Management Department’s disciplinary decision. The HR Department will review Madeleine’s performance again.”
Behind the bookshelf, Madeleine could hardly remain calm.
She thought, “Who would have known? It’s Madilyn who tried to drive

After Kristin left, she walked out with an awkward smile.

“Mr. Romero, I’m so sorry that I got you wrong. I knew it–why would you do something like this? You’re such an important, influential figure. Surely, you wouldn’t bother with me, a nobody, right?”
Vincent picked up his coffee and took a sip, his expression chillingly icy. He ignored her as if she were totally invisible.
Her heart skipped a beat.
She realized he was mad, and the consequences might be too much for her to handle.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Romero. I was so wrong. You’re clearly a bigger person than I thought, and I’m sure you’re generous enough to forgive me for my error in judgment, right?”
She took a step forward and bowed to him deeply.
But since she was so close to him, her head slammed into the coffee
cup in his hand. She couldn’t help but grunt in pain, tears welling up in her eyes.
Meanwhile, the coffee splashed everywhere, including the floor and his white shirt.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Romero. I’m so sorry…”
Upon seeing this, she panicked and hurriedly picked up some tissues to wipe his shirt, though she was in great pain herself.
Vincent was utterly irked, thinking, “She’s pregnant with my babies, or I

As she wiped his shirt, he clearly felt the warmth of her hands, which somehow made him restless.
“Enough.”
He grabbed her hand.
Yet, as she was standing on the spilled coffee, she immediately lost balance and leaned forward. In the next second, she fell upon him.
Her rosy lips landed on his thin lips accurately.
