Chapter 3 An Abortion
Madeleine was dazed the entire afternoon. She knew that Mr. Romero would eventually find out the truth. Maybe he’d already known. Would he deal with her and her baby?
After leaving the company, she was about to enter the subway station when a bald man approached her and pressed a dagger against her back.
“Don’t shout and come with me, or I’ll kill you right now.
Madeleine tensed up at once. She couldn’t help but lament how unlucky she was to have encountered a robbery.
“Sir, I’m broke and have zero savings. I can’t even afford to eat. Could you please let me go?”
“Shut up!” Lamont Reynolds, the bald man, ferociously forced her to walk toward a black Honda nearby.
As he pulled open the car door and was about to shove her inside, a man dressed in black pressed a knife against his neck. “Wanna know who’s gonna die here today?”
Before he could react, the man gripped his hand holding the dagger and suddenly twisted his wrist with great force, making Lamont wail out in pain.
Terrified, Madeleine dared not move at all. She was then handed off like cargo to the man in black and led to a silver Rolls–Royce.
A man was sitting inside. He had a tall, slender figure, and his face was breathtakingly handsome…

He was Vincent!
“M–Mr. Romero…” Madeleine was even more nervous.
Though Vincent wouldn’t extort her for money, he was as dangerous as the robber.
“You’re expecting my baby?” Vincent’s gaze fell upon her flat abdomen.
Madeleine was caught off guard by his straightforwardness.
“It was … a medical error. I’m a victim, too.” She shrank into the corner and lowered her head, not daring to meet his gaze at all.
Vincent sneered at the coward in front of him. She had seduced him in the elevator so boldly. Where did her courage go?
“I’ve scheduled a doctor. You’ll get a miscarriage tomorrow.” He demanded coldly.
“What?” Madeleine froze, blurting out.

She had no idea about this at all. Madilyn wants the baby, doesn’t she? They didn’t reach an agreement?

Though puzzled, she said, “It’s your baby, so you get to call the shots, Mr. Romero.”
Since he had made up his mind, she might as well comply. Maybe this was the best for everyone.
Vincent squinted slightly, his gaze deep. Then he asked, “Do you have any demands?”

Madeleine pursed her lips. She didn’t dare to make demands of Vincent at all. After all, he was her boss.
Besides, he was a victim, too. Even if she wanted compensation, she should go after the hospital.
“You won’t fire me because of this, right?” This was all she could think of.
Vincent was stunned for a second. Then he said, “I never mix work with personal matters.”
“Alright then. I just wanna keep my job. That’s all.” She breathed a sigh of relief, patting her chest.
It took her a lot of effort before getting a job at Marvel Jewelry. The job meant the world to her.
Hearing her words, Vincent was surprised–this wasn’t what he had expected to hear at all.
“Has she changed somehow?” He asked himself silently.
She’s one scheming woman indeed. This was his conclusion he reached regarding her.
The car stopped outside a villa on the outskirts of the city.
“Stay here tonight. I’ll take you to the hospital tomorrow morning.” Vincent said coldly.
Madeleine nodded and followed a maid upstairs. She figured Vincent “locked her up” here because he was worried she might run away with the baby. Was she that stupid in his eyes?

Vincent sat on the sofa and took a sip of the coffee. Then Kolton Santiago, his subordinate, walked in. “Mr. Romero, Lamont confessed. Ms. Deleon put him up to it. I’ve brought Ms. Deleon here.”
Vincent wasn’t surprised.
“Vincent, I didn’t mean to lie to you. I was just worried that Madeleine would blackmail you with the baby, so I wanted to make sure she couldn’t. Then I’d tell you the truth.” The second Madilyn entered the room, she cried miserably.
Vincent stirred the coffee, saying word by word slowly, “You don’t have to be worrïed at all. I’ll take her to get a miscarriage tomorrow.”
Madilyn was stupefied. “You wanna get rid of the baby?”
“What do you think?” Vincent arched an eyebrow, his expression extremely icy.
Madilyn found it hard to believe. “But that may be the only healthy child you’ll ever have.”
Vincent’s gaze immediately turned cold, a glint of killing intent flashing across his eyes.
“So what? Not any woman gets to bear my child.” He raised his head slightly, his piercing gaze sweeping across Madilyn’s face.
She shuddered. “This might be for the best. Or Madeleine may pester you with the baby.”
Madeleine getting a miscarriage was something she wanted to see. It saved her the trouble of killing Madeleine herself.
Madeline overheard everything they were saying on the stairs.

“To Vincent, I’m just a nobody. Of course, I don’t deserve to bear his child,” she reasoned to herself. “This whole thing was a mistake in the first place, and all mistakes should be corrected.”

She was taken to a car and went to the hospital early the next morning.
Though she was calm at first, when she lay on the operating table and saw the sharp scalpel, she couldn’t help but be nervous.
The doctor picked up the scalpel. “Are you ready?”
“Y–Yes. I am,” she swallowed hard and turned around to look at Vincent, who was sitting aside in the operating room to make sure Madeleine didn’t have a change of heart.
“Mr. Romero, could you wait outside? Don’t worry. I’ll go through the procedure.”
Couldn’t she at least have some privacy? She was still a virgin. Thinking of this, she gave Vincent a cold look in her mind.
Ignoring her, Vincent said to the doctor coldly, “Scan her.”
The doctor placed an ultrasound probe against her abdomen. “I see two gestational sacs. You’re carrying twins! They’re six weeks old with normal heartbeats.”
What? She was expecting twins?
Madeleine’s breath hitched as she subconsciously closed her eyes, not daring to see the screen. She couldn’t bring herself to think two lives were about to vanish within minutes.
Vincent kept staring at the screen, his gaze tinged with indescribable
