Her face went pale, and her heart ached in terror.
“I’ve got no passport, for I never plan to go abroad. I…”

Madeleine sounded serious and made herself clear.
Vincent revealed a confused smile as if looking at a weirdo. “Aren’t you going to the diamond exhibition in Jarburgh?”

Madeleine was stunned.
She almost forgot about it. It was one of the largest global exhibitions. As the top jewelry company in their region, Marvel Jewelry would attend the exhibition every year.
She dreamed of being part of it.

Torn between her thoughts, she swiped her finger on the table. It was the toughest decision in her life.
Vincent witnessed her weird reaction.
“Your condition does not fit long trips. Kristin is a better choice.”
“I’m willing to go.” She blurted out.
She would be a fool to miss the once–in–a–lifetime opportunity.
Kristin kept her position because of her reputation and the release of the new product. The company couldn’t afford to let the rumor of her plagiarism affect the upcoming sale.
Madeleine needed a good opportunity to stand out and replace Kristin.
“The jewelry exhibition is next month. By then, I’ll feel a lot better and be cleared to fly. Jarburgh is cold, so I’ll wear a thick coat. No one will notice. Nothing to worry about.”
She wanted to take chances. Maybe Madilyn was just bluffing.
Under the lights, Vincent’s dark eyes looked cold.
“You can pick your own team for the trip.”
“Great.” Madeleine smiled and nodded, finishing her meal in quick bites. “Mr. Romero, excuse me for going back to work. I’ll get my passport done tomorrow.”
As she walked away, Vincent’s lips curled into a faint, sly smile.
The tricky girl was full of schemes. But for the company, she was a model employee.

Madeleine was back at her desk, imagining her trip to Jarburgh.
The city of art was every artist’s dream. Even the buildings were masterpieces.

Her colleague from the High–End Custom Department brought in a client. He wanted a custom diamond necklace and asked specifically for Madeleine to design it.
She was a bit surprised to see William and took him to the meeting room.
“Is it a gift for your girlfriend?”
William shrugged. “I don’t have one. It’s for my aunt. Her birthday is next month.”
“Your aunt? Ms. Deleon’s mother?”
