Chapter 16 She’s Bleeding
This is a design draft of the main piece for the new collection.
“Madeleine.”
He stopped her.
Madeleine turned around and saw the draft in his hand, hurrying over.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Romero. I dropped my draft.”
A sharp glint flashed across Vincent’s eyes. He asked, “What flower is the main design?”
Madeleine pressed her lips and replied, “Forsythia.”
At the launch event, Kristin said it was winter jasmine, not knowing how to tell them apart. Although similar in shape and color, forsythia had four petals, while winter jasmine had five.
Vincent’s sharp eyes caught the difference as both plants were grown in Romero’s mansion.
“Did you design the Flower Whisper Collection?”
“Uh… Hmm…” Madeleine hesitated, neither confirming nor denying.
But Vincent understood completely.
Wasn’t Madeleine a scheming woman? Why didn’t she protest when her designs were stolen?
Did she use all her cunning tricks on gold–digging??

He said, “If only you focused this much effort on your work.”
Madeleine nearly choked. Vincent could doubt anything except her passion for work.
“Mr. Romero, I swear to heaven I spend every waking hour on work without any distractions.”
She got upset, her curves heaved slightly under the collar.
Vincent looked down at her and saw everything.
He tugged at his collar, somehow turned on.
Madeleine seemed to seduce him unconsciously with her every word and every movement.
“No low–cut clothes from now on.”
Taken aback, Madeleine glanced down at her V–neck. “It’s not low.”
Her outfits were always modest.
“Don’t talk back. This is an order.”
Vincent strode off like an emperor dismissing subjects with authority not to be disobeyed.
Madeleine made a face behind his back.
His fiancee wore plunging necklines down to her navel. Why didn’t he lecture her?
What a hypocrite!
She entered the banquet hall and sat in a corner. As an obscure designer,

she kept it low–key.
Yet she was too pretty to escape attention.
Denzel approached her with a goblet. “I didn’t expect to meet you again. Fate smiles at us.”
Madeleine didn’t expect to run into him. “I’m a designer from Marvel Jewelry, but I’m a junior…”
She pressed her lips and trailed off.
Denzel chuckled softly. “It doesn’t matter. With your talent, you’ll shine
soon.”
“I’ll work hard.”
Madeleine swirled her juice and wondered how Vincent would handle the plagiarism case.
Denzel fixed his eyes on her face. She was the only girl who wore no makeup in the hall, but she looked stunning.
“Madeleine, you’ve grown even lovelier.”
Madeleine tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
As a top photographer, Denzel must have seen countless beauties. She was just ordinary.
She said, “Many supermodels are here today. They’re dazzling…..”
“You’re different from them…”
Before he finished, a middle–aged man wrapped an arm around Denzel’s shoulders. “Hey, our youngest brother has come. Go say hello to him with

me.”
A hint of strange emotion flashed across Denzel’s face, and he said, “Excuse me, Madeleine.”
He left with the middle–aged man.
As Madeleine sipped juice and reached for her phone to access Instagram, Kristin came over and asked, “Madeleine, are you close with Mr. William?”
Madeleine was taken aback. “Who’s Mr. William?”
“Don’t play dumb. The man who talked to you just now is William Romero, the brother of Mr. Vincent. Everyone knows who he is.”
Madeleine didn’t know about that. She was shocked.
She looked up, her gaze piercing through the crowd to land on a man in the distance.
He was talking to Vincent.
The youngest brother? Madeleine knew what that meant now.
Suddenly, Vincent looked at her, and their eyes met.
An icy glare sliced through the air.
Madeleine shuddered with fright and quickly lowered her head.
If Vincent misunderstood she had designs for him again, she would get in trouble.
“Ms. Henson, I’m hungry and need to grab a bite.”

Madeleine didn’t want to explain to Kristin. Less talk, less trouble. She rose and headed toward the buffet.
The lights in the banquet hall dimmed as spotlights focused on the stage.
A famous singer was going to perform with the supermodels.
Madeleine got a piece of cake and returned to her seat.
Hidden in the crowd, a pair of eyes tracked her every move with malevolent ferocity.
As she passed, a foot emerged from the shadows and viciously tripped her.
Madeleine tumbled forward, crashing hard onto the floor.
Her plate shattered into pieces with a loud crack.
“It hurts!”
Piercing pain exploded through her body.
Madeleine struggled to get up but failed, cold sweat breaking out on her forehead.
Crimson blood seeped from between her legs, staining the white carpet beneath her…
