Chapter96
With that, I left the scene storming away.
My mind was racing as I rushed into the lobby. I almost didn’t notice Matthew leaning casually against the doorway. His
presence stopped me in my tracks.
“You’re really going to do this? Even though you know that he
might be gone already?” he asked.
I glared at him. “Yes. And if you’re here to stop me, don’t
bother!”
Matthew smirked, pushing off the wall. “Stop you? Hardly. I’m
here to help.””
His words caught me off guard, and I stared at him, searching
his face for any sign of mockery. But there was none.
“Why?” I asked cautiously. “Why would you help me?”
་
“Because you’re right,” he said simply. “Asher’s alive. I’d like to
help you prove to the others that you are right.”
For the first time since this nightmare began, I felt a spark of
hope.
“Thank you,” I said quietly. “I know you care about him.
Although you don’t say it, you still think of him as your family.”
“One more word and my offer is off,” he threatened.
I quickly shut my mouth.
He sighed, his casual demeanor returning. “And don’t thank me
just yet. I’m going to rally the death squads–father’s old loyalists.
If they still listen to me, with their help, we might be able to find
him.”
I hesitated, “You think they’ll follow you? After everything?”
“That’s why I have to meet with them and try convincing
them.”
I nodded, feeling the weight on my chest lift slightly. “Be quick,”
I said. “We don’t have time to waste.”
“I’ll handle it,” he said, turning to leave. “You just stay ready”
After Matthew left, I wandered back to my room, my heart
heavy. Jayden and Philip came into my room together later. I
wondered if they were here to convince me to drop my “crazy

plan.” And they weren’t alone; with them was Alpha Conrad,
one of the Alphas who had fought alongside Asher.
“Violet, Philip began hesitantly, “we need to talk.”
I crossed my arms and shot them a glare. “Spare me your
speech. I’m busy.“”
“We’re not here to tell you to quit,” Jayden said quickly. “We’re
here to admit we made a mistake.””
I raised an eyebrow, surprised. “A mistake? Leaving Asher
behind was more than a mistake. It was a betrayal.”
Alpha Conrad stepped forward, “You’re right. We should have
brought him back. It was wrong to leave without him.”
I stared at him, searching for any sign of insincerity, but his
gaze was steady. “And now what?” I demanded. “You expect me
to trust you after that?”
Conrad nodded. “If you say King Asher is alive, we’ll go back.
But we need to know for sure. If you’re certain–truly certain-
then we’ll follow you.”
I hesitated, my anger warring with the flicker of hope his
words ignited. “You left him once,” I said bitterly. “How can I

trust you not to do it again?”
“Because we won’t make the same mistake twice. You have my
word, Violet.” Philip said firmly.
I looked between them, my heart torn. Every instinct screamed
at me not to trust them, not after what they’d done.
But Asher’s voice echoed in my mind. He said he’d come back to
- me. And I told him I’d drag him back if I had to. I had to take
every chance I had.
“Fine,” I said finally. “But if you betray him again, I’ll make you
regret it.”
Violet’s POV
Philip and the others told me that Asher had gone to the
dungeon and never returned. They went down there later and
found him gone, along with my brother Michael, with just a
pool of blood on the ground.
Nobody knew what happened to him exactly. But if we were
going to get Asher back, we must learn what hurt him. My
mate was the strongest Alpha I knew. Nothing could hurt him
easily, unless it was something very dangerous.or special.
Chapter96
Isaac was the only one who might know the truth. He had everything to do with Asher’s disappearance. Philip said Isaac wouldn’t tell, but I would that jerk him talk.
I wasn’t going to waste time waiting for someone else to figure
this out. I had to handle this myself. With Gamma Brian by my
side, we made our way toward the dungeon.
We reached Isaac’s cell, and the sight of him sitting there-
grinning like the smug little bastard he was–almost made me
want to rip his head off right there. He hurt my daughter, he
made my husband disappear.how dared he act like it was no big
deal? He wasn’t even afraid. Did he seriously think we wouldn’t
hurt him?
But I kept my composure, only letting the disgust show in my
eyes.
