She obviously knew something!!!
“TELL ME!” I snapped, my grip on the phone tighter, a sense of
urgency and dread pooling in my stomach. “What do you
know? Stop hiding from me anymore!”
Charlotte sighed, the sound heavy with reluctance. “Your
blood. Violet.”
I froze. Really my blood could deal with Celestine Bloom too?
It’s that easy?
“I’m only guessing here but you and your brothers might be the
cure. The Celestine Bloom is magic, and since your blood can
affect magic, it might work on the flower as well. But there’s a
catch. The amount of blood needed… it might kill you.”
My world tilted. I felt the ground shift beneath me. “What?” I
whispered, barely able to form the words. “You’re telling me… I
could save Mia, but I’ll die in the process?”
Charlotte’s voice trembled, “It’s possible.”
Chapter 83
My blood. My mind spun. I was being offered the chance to
save her with my own life. This was wonderful! Just when I
thought I lost all hopes, the Moon Goddess blessed me with a
new hope. As long as Mia could wake up, I’d give up anything in
return.
“But don’t do anything irrational Violet! We’ll find a better way!
Something that can save the both of you! Are you listening
Violet-”
I hang up the phone and tossed it aside. There’s a knife on the
nightstand. I grabbed without hesitation and aimed it at my
wrist.
Asher’s eyes widened in horror. He lunged forward, grabbing
my arm before I could make a move.
“What the fuck are you doing?!!!” he roared.
“I’m giving my blood to Mia. To save her!”
“We don’t even know for sure if that’ll work. What if it fucking
kills you and Mia’s still asleep?!”
“But we have to try! Don’t we!”
There wasn’t time for doubt. My daughter needed me.
Chapter83
“NO, Violet!” he shouted, panic rising in his voice. “I won’t allow
it!”
14
I jerked away from him. “It’s not your decision to make. Let go
of me!”
His grip tightened, and for a moment, I thought he might
restrain me completely..
“Your my mate!” he hissed, his voice low and dangerous. “You
HAVE TO include me in a decision like this.”
I trembled, fury flooding my chest. He was right. I was acting
selfish. But Mia was waiting for my help! If I had to choose
between my mate and my daughter.God this was impossible!
“Then what do you suggest?” I demanded, my voice cracking.
“We sit around and wait for Isaac to come to his senses and
hand over the cure himself? That’ll never happen! Going after
Isaac is a dead end! We’re hopeless now and this is our only
chance!”
TH
“No it isn’t!” He glared at me, his jaw clenched so tight I could
hear his teeth grinding. “Listen to me! I’ve been thinking about
this. There’s still a chance we can get answers. Not from Isaac.
From the man behind him.”
Chapter83
Men behind him? I stared at him, my mind blank with
confusion. What did he mean?
“I thought Isaac acted alone.”
“I thought so too. But abducting these many children from 2
packs on the same time? He’s not alone in this–there are others
behind him. Others are helping him. I’m sure of it.”
A chill ran down my spine. He was right. And to sneak across
the border without alerting the guards.it looked like an inside
job. Those people helping him weren’t just the rogues. They
were part of us.
Asher saw through me and nodded, “I was thinking about the
same thing. There’s a bigger hand at play here. Do you have a
guess?”
“The Royal Council.” I blurt out my answer without second
thought.
Only those bunch of old pricks had the power and resources to
do this. Although we didn’t know what they were up to yet,
they were sure responsible.
“Now that I think back to it. Isaac didn’t know my blood has a
lethal effect on him. He only knows parts of the answer to the
puzzle.”
“Which means that someone is keeping things from him as
well. He is just a pawn.” Asher nodded.
“Those fucking bastards!” I cursed, “OK. So the Royal Council
must know about everything. Should we go over there right
now?”
Just then, Asher’s phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out
quickly, his eyes scanning the screen. His face paled as he read
the message.
“What is it?” I asked, already dreading the answer. Not another
bad news please!
“It’s Michael,” Asher said, his voice thick with disbelief. “He’s
gone.”
Asher’s POV
The news about Michael hit Violet like a hammer. Her face
went pale, and before I could even react, she collapsed. My
heart seized as I caught her in my arms, panic and helplessness
surging through me.
