just want a fresh start,” she said nonchalantly. “I’m done with
our pack. I want to leave and join another pack, somewhere far
from here. And Asher,” she paused for effect, “Asher needs to
vouch for me. He’ll be my guarantor, tell them I’m a good fit,
that I’m a valuable member.”
A valuable member? She’s anything but that!
“Fucking ridiculous.” Jayden snapped, “You’re a traitor, Kylie. A
devil with no sense of moral. You can forget about having
Asher voucher for you, because unlike you, the rest of us
doesn’t like lying to people!”
“Then this devil will stick with you. And you can kiss your
precious little girl goodbye because she will most certainly die
out there.”
I felt my blood boil. “You shut the fuck up!”
“I’m not getting involved in this,” Asher said, his voice tight. “I
don’t trust you, and I won’t put my name on the line for you.
But Kylie didn’t back down. She just gave a small, sly smile.

help me leave this place, and I’ll get you Mia. What’s it going to
be?”
I couldn’t believe it. Here we were, bargaining over my
daughter’s life, and she was using her usual tricks. The room
felt like it was closing in on me. Every second we hesitated was
another second Mia could be in danger. But I couldn’t stand the
idea of letting Kylie get away with whatever plan she had.
I was about to refuse her again when the door suddenly
opened. Everyone turned to look and we all froze in shock the
next second.
The most unexpected person walked in.
Isaac!
And in his arms, in his arms was Mia, soundly asleep.
“Well hello there.” the monster curved his lips into a cold smile,
“What a party”
Asher and the guys roared in fury, ready to shift. And so did I.
How dared he just show up like this! And Mia! Oh god my
daughter! What the fuck did he do to her!!!
Chapter80
“STAY BACK!” he reeled back quickly, eyeing us warningly. “If
you come any further, I’ll break her beautiful little neck right
now!”
The world felt like it was spinning, my heart pounding in my
ears. I wanted to scream, to charge at him, to rip Mia from his
arms. But one look at his cold, dark eyes and the way he was
holding her–like she was a weapon–told me that I couldn’t. Not
yet.
“Isaac, give her back,” Asher said, his voice strained and grim.
“Let her go and then we can talk.”
He laughed, the sound mocking, “Am I really that stupid to you?
The moment I give her to you, you’ll kill me right away. You
think I don’t know that?”
“You aren’t getting away anyway!” Jayden snapped, circling to
his back. “We outnumbered you. It’ll only be a matter of time
before we take you.”
“Sure, take me. And I’ll make sure Mia’s life is the price.”
I could feel Asher and the others tensing behind me. We
couldn’t just stand here forever. I had to find a way. I had to do
something.

Then, something–something I had heard in the council meeting-
flashed through my mind.
My blood.
The Mix’s blood was lethal to people practicing magic!
With a sudden, desperate movement, I grabbed a shard of glass
from the table and cut my palm. The pain was immediate,
searing, but I gritted my teeth and focused on the blood pouring
from the wound.
Isaac’s smirk faltered for just a second, his eyes flickering with
surprise. I kept my focus, watching as the blood flowed faster,
the energy from the wound pulling something from Isaac.
Something weak, something. vulnerable. I could feel it.
Asher caught my signal before I even had to speak. Without
hesitation, he moved. His instincts kicked in, and before Isaac
could react, Asher lunged forward.
“NOW!” I screamed, and in one smooth motion, we grabbed Mia
from Isaac’s arms.
Isaac was tackled to the ground, constraint.
“Kill him!” I snapped. We should end this now!
Chapter80
“You think this is over? You think you’ve won?” Isaac snarled,
struggling on the ground. “I didn’t show up unprepared you
fucking idiots! If you don’t let me go, I swear to you, your girl
will never wake up. Every child will suffer, every soul in you
pack will pay for this!”
I held Mia tightly in my arms, her tiny body still limp in sleep.
Her pulse was steady, but she wasn’t waking up, and I couldn’t
understand why.
“What have you done?!!” I cried, my voice breaking.
Isaac smirked again, that twisted, victorious look never leaving
his face. “Only what I’m capable of. Now do you want your
daughter awake or not?”
