Chapter77
I knew Asher wasn’t wrong. Kylie had betrayed me before-
more than once, actually. But at the same time, she was the one
who had led me to Isaac in the first place. They were still
talking to each other. I was sure of that. Kylie, wild and
unpredictable as she was, might still be our best shot.
“I know she’s a wild card,” I admitted, meeting his gaze bravely.
“But we need all the help we can get. Even if I have to make deal
with the devil, so be it.””
Asher shook his head, “This is worse than dealing with the
devil! She has absolutely no sense of loyal and moral. What if
she turns around and gang up with Isaac and then set you up
again? No this is too risky. I don’t trust her, Violet. You can’t just
go to her and hope for the best.”
But my mind was already made up. My desperation was
growing, gnawing at my insides. I had to try. If there was even a
slim chance that Kylie could lead us to Isaac or at least give us a
hint, I had to take it.
Asher cursed. He turned to my mother, who had been silent for
a while, listening intently. “You said you knew a person who
can help us. Who is that?”
“A seer.” Charlotte said, “She has the gift of sight and wisdom-
she knows everything about our pack and magic. She might
know how to break Isaac’s magical barrier.“”
“Then let’s split up.” Philip suggested, “Alpha Charlotte, you can
go to the seer, and Violet, you can take your shot with Kylie.
But don’t trust her easily, OK? We all know that our half–sister
is a snake.”
It made sense, but I couldn’t shake the nagging feeling that this
wasn’t going to be easy. Nothing ever was.
Asher didn’t look happy about the plan, but he didn’t argue. He
knew this was the best way.
“Fine,” he muttered, rubbing his temples. “But If she betrayed
you again, I’ll fucking take her time this time.”
Charlotte spoke up before I did, “You talked about betrayal a
couple of times already. What happened? What did Kylie do to
you?”
I rolled my eyes. God, where do I even begin? Should I tell her how Kylie lie about losing her mate and stealing mine and

turning me into a wolf–less mess? Or should I tell her how Kylie
manipulated the whole family and caused me to suffer in
loneliness and pain for years?
I could tell her. But where was she when I went through all of
these? She missed her chance. There’s no point having this
conversation now.
“Don’t pretend that you care, OK?” I replied in a sarcastic tone,
“It’s not the first thing that you missed in my life and it won’t be
the last. So let’s just not waste time on it.”
Her face went pale. She looked even more traumatized than
when we accused her of giving Isaac the Celestine Bloom
earlier. I almost regretted it immediately. Maybe that was too
harsh. She was here trying to help.
“I know you’re angry at me. I know I’ve failed you in the past.
But. if there’s ever a time when you have to make an impossible
choice yourself–think of me. Maybe you’ll understand then.”
Her words caught me off guard. What shocked me more was
that there were tears in her eyes.
She had always been the strong one, the leader, the Alpha. She
never showed weakness, never let anyone see her pain. But

With a deep breath, I pulled out my phone and dialed Kylie’s
number. I had no idea what I was about to walk into, but one
thing was certain: this was my only chance.
