Chapter 48
Violet’s POV
It all happened too fast.
The last thing I saw was Asher turning to meet the King’s
attack, his arm coming up to block the blow.
NO!! I rushed forward. trving to stop it. but Javden grabbed mv
arm, yanking me back.
“Let Asher handle it!”
Asher shifted before the King could reach him. The massive
wolf lunged, faster than I could blink. His eyes–those eyes- were different, darker than the amber I was used to. There was
something terrifying about them. They were almost black, with
a deep, blood–red glow. It was pure predatory instinct.
People gasped. I was probably the only one who wasn’t scared. I
knew Asher’s wolf. I trusted him.
Asher’s giant wolf knocked the King down, its fangs flashing
dangerously close to his throat. The King, now shifted, fought
back with a ferocity that matched Asher’s. They tore at each
other in a violent, bloody frenzy.
“STOP!!!” The Queen’s voice rang out, sharp and commanding.
“Are you fucking insane?! Move away from your King! I order
you to stop as the Queen! NOW!!!”
I rolled my eyes internally. Nobody cared about their authority
anymore. They had lost the respect of the room a long time ago.
No one moved to stop the fight. The Queen, gritting her teeth,
Asher turned on her with a growl that made the air shake-
violent and raw. She staggered back, her legs giving out
beneath her. Matthew caught her just in time before she hit the
floor.
The King stood up, his massive wolf letting out a roar that
rattled everyone in the room.
His wolf was so fucking huge–its head nearly brushed the
ceiling as it loomed over us. His aura blasted out, sweeping
across the room, making everyone flinch.
But I noticed something–Asher’s wolf wasn’t intimidated by
the King’s presence. Instead, it stood its ground, shoulders
arched, teeth bared in a low, threatening growl. The air
crackled with tension, two powerful alphas facing off. Neither
one would back down.
“This is impressive!” Alpha Daniel muttered beside me. “No one
-NO ONE–can challenge the King when he’s enraged. Even
other Alphas fall under his aura. But Asher… his aura is strong
enough to take on the King himself!”
“Asher, I’ll give you one last chance!” the King shouted, his voice
cold and furious. His wolf bared its teeth, a deep, rumbling
Chapter 48
growl filling the space. “Think about how good I’ve been to you.
I taught you, I mentored you. I made you into the Alpha you are! And this is how you repay me? Wake up, boy. No one can
challenge a king. The only thing waiting for you is death!”
My chest tightened. I looked at Asher, my heart racing, but his
wolf didn’t flinch. If anything, it stood taller, proud, defiant.
“The only thing you ever did for me was use and control me.
The moment I stopped being your puppet, your true nature
came out. You never saw me as family,” Asher sneered. “If you
want to fight, bring it. Let’s see who walk out of that fight
alive.”
It was impossible to tell who moved first–both wolves collided
in an instant, teeth and claws shredding flesh, the sound of
their battle deafening.
The office was a wreck. The walls shook with every hit. Then,
with a deafening crash, they tore through the wall and fell into
the courtyard, still locked in savage combat.
The sound of their fight–growls, claws scraping against stone,
teeth snapping–was all I could hear.
Everyone rushed outside, watching in tense silence. We all
knew this wasn’t just a battle. It was a fight to the death. Only
one of them would walk away alive.
I couldn’t look away. I couldn’t breathe. The fight in the
courtyard raged on, two wolves clashing with everything they
had. It was raw, brutal, primal.
I know I should trust my mate

Chapter 48
Both wolves were bleeding, their fur matted with blood. But it
was the King who finally gave in. He shifted back to human
form, stumbling, panting, clutching at his stomach where a
fatal wound had torn through.
The Queen screamed, rushing toward him, her voice breaking.
“Stop it! Make them stop! How dare they do this to you! Give
them your order!”
“They don’t care about any fucking orders. They’re rebels.
Fucking traitors!” the King snarled, his voice weak.
Asher shifted back into human form, catching his breath for a
moment.
I swallowed hard, my heart sinking when I saw Asher’s injuries. His chest was bruised, his skin torn in places. But it
wasn’t the blood that made me tremble–it was the realization
that he had been through hell in that fight. Yet, he was still
standing. Still breathing. Still alive. That was all that mattered
to me.
He met my gaze, a soft smile curling on his lips despite the blood
and pain. “I’ll be fine,” he said, his voice rough. “These wounds
will heal fast.”
I didn’t know if he was telling the truth or just trying to make
me feel better. My eyes were misty, but I knew I couldn’t cry.
Not now. I had to be strong–for him.
“I love you,” I whispered, cupping his face, pressing my lips to
his in a kiss filled with everything I couldn’t say. “No matter
what happens, I’ll be here with you.”
He hugged me tight, his arms squeezing me as though he never
wanted to let go.
“That’s all I need to know,” he murmured.
The King staggered to his feet and wiped blood from his mouth.
He looked at Asher with pure hatred. His voice was cold,
dripping with fury.
“You think you’ve won, Asher?” he spat. “BULLSHIT! If
anything, this just proves what a deceitful, cruel, treacherous
piece of shit you are. Do you really think there’s any honor in
defeating your King? Everyone will hate you for this. This will
be a stain you can never wash away!”
Asher didn’t respond.
“You don’t deserve to be Alpha. You’re weak. You’ve always
been weak! “the king struggled and spat, his voice laced with
hatred. “Your parents would be ashamed of you if they were
still alive! You are their shame! You are everyone’s shame!”
His words stung. I could see Asher’s jaw tighten, but he said nothing. The King kept provoking him, but Asher stayed calm,
his eyes locked on the weakened King.
“Your parents should’ve died with you,” he snarled. “You, and
them, all of you should be-”
Before he could finish his sentence, Asher was on him, faster
than I could process.
A single punch.
Asher’s claws plunged into the King’s chest, and blood exploded
from the wound.
The King’s eyes widened, disbelief flashing in them. He froze
for a moment, then crumpled to the ground, dead.

Violet’s POV
“NO!!!“The Queen let out a shrill scream and collapsed to the ground, her body trembling with sorrow.“No, this can’t be real! What have you just done?! No!!!“The crowd fell into complete
silence, everyone staring at the lifeless King and the Queen,
who was falling apart in tears. Prince Matthew pushed his way
through the crowd, rushing to the Queen, trying to help her up.
“Don’t be afraid, mother, I won’t let them hurt you…“But the
Queen shoved him away, glaring at him with bloodshot eyes
and snarled, “This is your fault too! The King exiled Isaac to
bring you back, made you take his place. If it weren’t for you, I
wouldn’t have had to break my promise, and none of this
would have hannened Youdamn hastard you killed your

“Why would my uncle do this to us? To my family?”
He looked at me like he was lost, like the world was crumbling around him. The pain in his eyes made me want to pull him into my arms, but I knew it wouldn’t fix anything.
The pain of killing a family member would stay with him
forever. And he didn’t have a second choice. The King had
confessed his sins publicly. There was no running from it
anymore. Asher had to make a choice–to seek justice for his
parents or let it all go The weight

The Queen suddenly erupted into a sharp, hysterical laugh. She
looked at us with a deranged expression, as if she had lost her
mind.“Yeah, of course you’ll kill Matthew too! After all, you’ve
already killed the King–what’s one more life to you?” She
laughed maniacally, shaking her head. “Your hands are dirty,
Asher. You’ll never be able to wash them clean. From now on,
you’ll be known as a murderer, someone who killed your own
blood! You’ll never have a sound sleep ever again!“Asher’s hand
trembled, and I felt my anger surge. I snapped, “If the King
hadn’t betrayed Asher and his parents, none of this would’ve
happened! Asher is not a murderer, and we all know it!““No, he
is,” the Queen said, her smile twisted and strange, her voice full
of venom. “You’ll lose your mate too, Asher,” she warned. “Just
like I did. That’s the price of betrayal.”
And then she passed out, like someone had flipped a switch.
Losing her mate–it had shattered her. I could see it in her face.
Her body couldn’t handle the grief.
Asher stood there, watching her, but his face was blank. He
looked… lost.
“I’ve lost them both,” he said to me through mindlink, his voice breaking. “My parents. My uncle…I won’t be happy anymore.”
The words hit me like a punch to the gut. Asher had been
through so much, but now it felt like everything was falling
apart. I wanted to cry, to help, to say something that would
make it all better.
“Asher please, it’s not your fault…” Those words sounded so
vain. But I didn’t know anything else I could say.
“I need to be alone.”
He turned and walked away. I didn’t even try to stop him. I just
stood there, helpless.
People surged up and brought the unconscious Queen away.
Shortly after, the Royal Council had arrived. They asked to see
Asher, their face all serious. I started to get nervous. Killing the
King was a serious crime. Prince Matthew was right–Asher
wouldn’t be able to walk away from this easily.
“Can you stall these men for a while?” I dragged Jayden to the
side and whispered, “I need to talk to Asher…and figure out a
way.”
I wouldn’t let the Royal Council hurt my mate. He just lost everything and now he was going to face another serious
punishment? No, it was too cruel for him. I wouldn’t let it
hannon
happen.
Jayden’s expression told me that he understood my worries.
“Alright, go, I will see what I can do.” he whispered back, “But
hurry up. These royal council men are not easy to fool.”
I nodded and quickly dashed away, leaving Jayden to deal with
the Royal Council.
But where was Asher anyway? I asked myself as I left the
packhouse. Where would he go when he was sad and
desperate.
My gut feeling told me that he had gone to Isaac. So I quickly
headed to the forest where we first met.
When I got there, Isaac was sitting alone, looking like the
weight of the world was on his shoulders. The tension in the air
was thick, and I could feel my heart pounding in my chest.
“Isaac,” I called, my voice quiet.
He didn’t look surprised to see me. His eyes met mine, and for a
moment, I thought I saw something cold in them.
“Where’s Asher?” I asked, stepping closer. “Did you see him?”
Isaac let out a strange laugh, shaking his head.
“You really don’t get it, do you?” He looked at me like I was a
fool. He pity and loathed me, “Asher is an idiot. So are you. You
never saw it coming.”
“What are you talking about?” I asked, feeling a knot tighten in
my stomach. “Where is he?”
Isaac stood up slowly, his eyes dark with resentment.
“…I made sure everything went wrong.” He grinned, a triumph
smile on his lips. “I told Asher the truth, knowing that my
brother was too righteous to let it slide. He would seek revenge
to the King for sure. I pushed Asher and his uncle into each
other’s throats haqquso I wanted thom to danture

his brother back. They were starting to like each other. Even with their parents gone, they still had one another… This can’t
be real…
“I don’t believe it! You didn’t!!!”
“But I sure did.” Isaac took a step forward, his voice dripping with bitterness. “Because I wanted Asher to feel it. I wanted
him to understand what it’s like to lose everything.”
He paused and narrowed his eyes into slits, “But I didn’t count on you. I didn’t count on you and the wolves still supporting him. I thought it would all fall apart, but you’re still here. You’re
still backing him up.”
I stared at him. My blood turned ice cold.
So it was true then.
The brother that Asher felt so lucky to have had just
manipulated Asher to kill his own uncle.
