was thinking the same thing.
“On the contrary, the duty of an Alpha is not to follow but to
lead!” Asher said boomingly, his gaze locked on the royal
couple. “The position of Wolf King can be challenged at any

was best for the pack!”
Asher took a step closer with anger radiating off him, “Best for the pack? Or best for covering your own failures? You left him out there to fend for himself, a child, your own nephew! How
can you justify that?!”
The crowd agitated as Alpha Charlotte raised her voice, “You abandoned your own nephew. What kind of monsters does
that?”
Matthew moved quickly, stepping between his father and
Charlotte. His face was flushed with anger.
“Watch your words, Alpha Charlotte!” he snapped. “You have no right to speak to the King like that.”
Asher snapped his head around, his gaze fierce as he fixed it on Matthew, “And you are not the heir yet. The council hasn’t
approved you as Crown Prince. You don’t have the authority to speak to an Alpha like that!”
Matthew clenched his jaw, but he didn’t say anything else.
What Asher said was true.
Chapter 47
“You separated a son from his mother. Asher’s mother begged
you to let her keep both of her kids, but you refused her cold- heartedly! You promised her that her son would be raised with
love and care. That’s the least you can do! But what did you do?
You threw him out and kept his parents in the dark! You
should be ashamed of yourself!” I cried to these bunch of
hypocrites.
What kind of people did something like that and was not even
sorry about it? How did they sleep at night?
“You have no right to say things like that! Your lies made Asher
suffer for years and we all know that! I will not stand here and
take accusations from a liar!” the Queen snapped. She brought
up our past for a reason–she wanted to pit us against each
other, just like what they did to Asher and Isaac. It was
disgusting but never got old.
I met her gaze without flinching. “I have lied, yes. But my lies
were never meant to hurt Asher and I’ve come clean already.
Your attacks on me are pointless, your majesty. This isn’t about
me.”
“I think the pack deserves a leader who doesn’t hide behind lies.
If you want to be that leader, then prove it. Stop hiding the
truth.” Asher backed me up with it.
Chapter 47
“You dare speak to me like that? I am the Wolf King! My word is
law!” the king snarled.
“Not if that law is built on lies and betrayal. If you keep acting
like this, I’ll simply skip you and have a direct meeting with the
council. We’ll investigate on our own.”
The crowd fell silent, the tension reaching its breaking point.
The King’s eyes were wild, his chest heaving with rage.
He took a step forward, and before anyone could react, he
lunged at Asher, his movements swift and deadly.
“Asher!” I screamed.
