Chapter 30
Asher’s POV
“What?” I snapped.
She playfully winked at me, “Aren’t you happy to be the
father?”
“Is this a twisted joke of yours? Because if it is, I don’t have for
it,” I said icily, motioning to shut the door. But she quickly put
her foot in between the wall and the door.
“This is our kid! Did you forget what happened a month ago?”
she reminded me.
I froze, memories from the past gradually making their way
back to me.
I had no feelings for Kylie after we married. My wolf hated her.
It would turn nuts every time Kylie came close. Because of that,
I always felt that I was in debts of her. So to make up to her, I
would satisfy her every need. Whatever she wanted, I would
find a way to make it happen.
A month ago, just before Violet came back, Kylie came into my
room looking pale and told me how much pain she was in, and

she felt like she was dying. Her last wish was to have sex with
me for one time so that she could be sure that this marriage.
wasn’t just her own fantasy.
I agreed to that.
I wasn’t with my mate at the time, so it didn’t really matter
whom I had sex with. It could be Kylie, or any other women in
the world. I just didn’t give a fuck.
But never expected a baby.
Based on her health condition and my wolf’s feeling toward her,
there was no way she could be pregnant after that one night.
Kylie was lying to me now.
“Aren’t you going to invite me in so that we can talk about this?
I know you have always wanted to be a father. I saw how you
were like when you were with Mia,” she smiled, touching my
shoulder in a fictious way.
I dodged her hand, staring at her fiercely, “If the child was
conceived a month ago, how come I never heard two heart
beats coming from you?”
She pouted, “That is because you have been avoiding me all the
time. It is so hard to get an alone time with you now and we
is that, do I?”
I knew she was blaming Violet again. God do I hate it when she
does that.
“Listen closely hun. Do you really not hear two heart beats?” she
tempted me with a smile.
I paid attention and–yes, FUCK–there was indeed 2 heart beats.
inside of her.
She was indeed pregnant.
At that moment I was furious with how fate was fucking my
life. First my runaway mate, and then my surprise twin
brother, and finally Kylie’s pregnancy. I just couldn’t catch a
breath!
Yet despite my anger, I still had a shred of rationality left in me:
Kylie was not to be trusted. This pregnancy was probably
another drama that she orchestrated.
If she was indeed pregnant with my child, why did she say
something to me before? Why did she wait till I lost all faith in
her? Pregnancy might be her last resort to save her threatened
position. She was very good at manipulating people to achieve
her own goal.
“What do you want then Kylie?” I asked, my eyes narrowed into
slits.
She giggled, “What I want? Isn’t that obvious? I want to be with
you. I want to be your Luna. I want to raise this child with you
so that one day he will inherit this pack.”
She rubbed her belly gently with a motherly smile, “That fight
between Violet and me isn’t going to happen. I can’t put my
baby in danger. And the fight doesn’t seem necessary now
because I am pregnant with your child, and it is pretty obvious
now who was the winner.”
What she said disgusted me.
Violet was ready to lay down her life to fight for me, and yet
Kylie just skipped everything and declared the outcome. And
she was acting like the child in her belly was just a tool to be
used.
“We decided on the fight not long ago. Why didn’t you mention
your pregnancy at the time?” I questioned.
“Because I was worried that someone might get jealous and hurt
our child,” she looked behind my shoulder and into my room. “Is
she with you? Are you going to tell her. Now that we are a
family, she should make room for me.”
I blocked her view with my body.
“You don’t tell anyone about this, and certainly not Violet,” I
said to her in a low voice. “Keep it as a secret till I figure out how to tell everyone. This must be handled delicately.”
She beamed, “I get it. You are afraid that Violet might hurt me under jealousy. Oh Asher, it’s so nice to see you care for our child. Now you have your own child to care for. No need to waste your time on some orphan.”
I wanted to punch her. But I told myself to be patient and waited till I found out the truth.
Kylie thought I had recognized this child. But I knew she couldn‘
t be pregnant under those circumstances.
So right now I was just saying that to let her believe I was on her
side, while buying myself more time to investigate the whole
thing.
I told Kylie to be careful with the baby and sent her away.
Then I mind linked the seer right away.
“What’s your opinion on this? Could she get pregnant after that
one night?” I asked the seer after telling her everything.
Chapter 30
She confirmed my presumption, “Not possible. Her wolf is too
weak and you two aren’t mate.”
“Then what’s the deal with the two heart beats?” I asked
urgently.
“Her family knew the witch. That was how they hid Violet’s
scent in the first place. Kylie’s unnatural pregnancy might have
something to do with the dark magic as well.”
I gritted my teeth in rage. Witch. AGAIN! They were trying to
screw with me again using the same method twice!
“I need to find proof,” I said deeply to the seer, “Kylie’s
pregnancy might shake up our pack. It might even hurt Violet.
We need to take care of this quickly.”
“I will try my best to locate the witch. But the rest of the truth is
left for you to unveil.”
I was stunned. She talked like that there were still thing that I
hadn’t discovered yet. I asked her what she meant, but she
refused to tell me.
“It is now time to take your rightful place as Alpha. The pack’s
future is in your hand.”
That was all that she said.
