Chapter155
“Sure thing. I’ll wait for you.” Grace gave him a wink before
turning back to me. “If you’ll excuse me, my Queen, I have other
matters to attend to.” With that, she walked away, leaving me
standing there with my patience wearing thin.
“What was that? I could cut the tension between you two with
a knife,” Michael asked, curious.
I didn’t bother to answer and simply walked ahead. “That was
me cleaning up your mess.”
“And what mess would that be?” His voice carried suspicion
I stopped, met his gaze, and answered, “Finishing what you
failed to do–killing the King”
For a brief second, nothing else mattered. Not the looming war,
not the politics. Just my rage burning through me like fire. He
knew I hated that woman and still allowed her in this castle.
That was betrayal.
I stormed into the office, and there he was. The man I’d been
dying to confront. His eyes were locked on mine, filled with an

emotion I couldn’t decipher. Worry? Guilt? Maybe even regret.
“So, you decided to return after all,” he said, his voice laced with
frustration.
And just like that, the fire inside me dimmed.
The room fell silent when I entered. Every person inside bowed
out of respect, but my focus was locked on Asher.
“Come on. We both knew I had no choice but to do this,” I said,
my voice softening. I had been blocking him out of my mind the
whole time to avoid his complaining. He must have a lot say
right now.
Asher exhaled sharply. “You should have told me.”
“And you should know by now that telling you wouldn’t have changed anything. You couldn’t have stopped me.”
I closed the space between us and sank onto his lap, resting my hands on his shoulders.
“We’ll talk about this later. For now, your plan worked.” His voice was calmer, but his frustration still lingered.
“I wasn’t alone in this. Michael stood by my side. He kept the

pack safe.” I met Asher’s eyes, silently hoping he could let go of his grudge against Michael.
Asher turned to Michael. “Good, because you’re exactly the
man we need to talk to.”
Alpha Jose, who had remained quiet until now, spoke up. “You know Alpha Xavier better than anyone here. Help us understand what he wants.”
I cut in before Michael could answer. “He doesn’t want the
throne. He wants us.”
“How do you know that?” Asher pursued, his face stern.
I hesitated before replying, “Because I met him.””
The silence that followed was deafening. Jayden worried expression contrasted with Alex’s hard, unreadable stare–like I had betrayed him in every way possible.
“Where did you meet him? And how?” Jayden’s voice was steady, but I could hear the concern underneath.
“That’s why he vanished,” I continued. “If he’s upset that I met with Javier, he’s really not going to like the fact that there’s a
traitor among us.”

That got everyone’s attention.
“Someone tipped him off,” I added. “He knew we were coming.”
Alpha Kade’s gaze narrowed at Michael. “And how do we know
it wasn’t you? You did it once already!”
Michael stiffened. “I would never put my sister’s life in danger
again.”
I nodded in agreement. “It wasn’t Michael. I know that for a
fact.”
Asher’s gaze was still locked on me. “Then who?”
I took a breath before answering. “Kimberly. She knew when
Michael and I left the castle. It wasn’t a coincidence that we
bumped into Xavier.”
“That means we’re dealing with more than just one betrayal,”
Michael muttered. “This isn’t just about our pack. There are
more people conspiring against us.”
Asher’s eyes darkened. “And what does Xavier want from
you?”
Michael exhaled, looking away for a second before speaking.
Chapter155
“Xavier has been obsessed with my blood for as long as I’ve
known him. But at some point, he decided mine alone wasn’t
enough. He wants my siblings too. And I’d rather die before I let that happen.”
“Why does he need your blood?” Asher pressed.
“I don’t know,” Michael admitted. “But somehow, his past is connected to your family.”
Alpha Kade frowned. “Then why didn’t he go after Matthew? He would’ve been an easier target.“”
Max shook his head. “Because Matthew is illegitimate and his blood isn’t pure.”
Violet’s POV
“Why would the council even consider putting Matthew on the throne if his blood isn’t fully royal?” I muttered, more to myself than anyone else. The council had always clung to its traditions,
so this move didn’t make any sense.
“They don’t want Matthew on the throne It was just a fake out, to hide the person that they truly want,” Michael said, his voice edged with frustration. “The King that they truly want is Alpha
Xavier!”
