Chapter154
The thought made my stomach turn. Matthew? A traitor? I didn’t want to believe it, but deep down, something about his
absence gnawed at me.
“I don’t know.” I admitted. “But what made you suspect him?”
“Because Matthew never shuts up.” Grace said bluntly. “But ever since we came back, he’s been eerily quiet. And I heard he has been backchannelling with the Alphas on Xavier’s side. They might have turned him a long time ago.”
I sighed. “If he betrayed us. I’ll handle it.” Grace had always had
my back, and I trusted her judgment more than most.
Turning to Simon. I said. “Make sure the warriors are checked
in and accounted for. We can’t afford any more surprises.”
“If Matthew’s not the leak, then who is?” Philip suddenly asked.
his brows tight.
That was the million–dollar question.
“Round up everyone who was in the meeting earlier. I want

them questioned, and I want answers,” I ordered. “I don’t care
what it takes–if someone’s playing both sides, I want them
exposed!“‘
Philip nodded and disappeared with the other Alphas who had
remained loyal to me.
“Thanks for being here,” I turned to Jayden and thanked him
again. It meant a lot that he was here for us. “Is everything at
Silver Moon Pack alright?”
“Yes it is. I made sure the pack is well–protected before I left,”
Jayde smiled. “I knew they would target us first if they were
coming after your allies. So I got prepared. And nobody knew I
was here to help you.””
It was a logical move. Silver Moon had always been my second
home, and with Jayden being Violet’s brother, that was the
most obvious place to start the attack.
“My mate’s taking care of everything back home,” Jose assured
- me. “I don’t have to anything to worry about either.”
“Good,” I muttered. “Because right now, we need to focus on
winning this war.”
Kade agreed. “No matter what, we can’t afford to lose. Not

when the stakes are this high.”
I ran a hand through my hair. “There’s one thing we haven’t talked about–Xavier’s bloodline. Do any of you know the truth about his family?”
Silence.
Then Kade finally spoke. “Not much, but my father once said his dad was a werewolf. His mother, wasn’t. She was another
creature.
Jose added, “He was never supposed to be an Alpha. His family
wasn’t even in line for it.”
That made me pause. “Then how the hell did he end up leading
a pack?”
Jose’s answer made my blood run cold. “Apparently he was
adopted by the previous Alpha.”
That was all the confirmation I needed. “We need someone who
knows his full history. If we want to stop him, we need to
understand exactly who we’re dealing with.”
Violet’s POV
Chapter154
I could feel the weight in the air as I moved through the living room. The atmosphere was thick with tension, and I knew Asher was furious. But at least we had managed to stall the war–if only for a short while.
“Your mate is going to be the death of us. He’ll skin us alive for sneaking out without telling him,” Michael muttered as we walked toward the office.
I smirked. “Oh, I doubt that. If anything, I’m way too charming for him to even try. He’s got a soft spot for me, and you know it.”
Just as I was preparing to deal with Asher’s anger, another distraction presented itself.
“Grace.”
My steps halted as she approached, a gloating glint in her eyes. What the hell was she doing here? Michael looked back and forth between us, perplexed.
“Queen Violet, Asher has been deeply concerned about you.“‘
She bowed, but the amusement in her tone told me she was
being anything but sincere.
Oh, I knew exactly what she was doing. My mind screamed,
Chapter 154
Yes, you thought you could make a move on my mate while I was gone? Tough luck, sweetheart. I’m back. If only I could say it aloud.
“It’s King Asher, Grace. I’m surprised that you have such a short term memory that you have already forgotten about that, I gave her a pointy look.
Grace’s smile faltered for a bit, and she turned to Michael.
“Hey you, it’s been a while.” She threw her arms around Michael in a hug. He didn’t pull away, his expression one of pleasant surprise, while my irritation simmered beneath the surface.
“You look great, Grace.”
I clenched my jaw. “Alright, this little reunion can wait. We’ve got bigger issues at hand.” My voice cut through the moment, and Grace let out a light chuckle, while Michael shot me a side glance.
“I’ll talk to you later,” Michael assured her with a charming
smile. I rolled my eyes. Why do men lose all common sense
around her?
