Chapter153
I swallowed, heart pounding. “Kimberly lied. We’re not getting
out of here. We’re trapped.”
I shifted back to human form, slipping my dress over my head.
Michael clenched his jaw. “This isn’t just any trap–it’s a damn
maze.”
I exhaled sharply. “At least means we’re still in the royal
territory. The Royal Pack is well known for its mazes and
traps.”
Michael ran a hand through his hair, frustration evident. “If we
keep moving forward without a plan, we’re going to lose
ourselves completely.“”
A memory surfaced in my mind. “Wait, I’ve heard of this
before. The royal pack designed it to keep outsiders away. It’s
supposed to be impossible to escape. And only those with royal
blood can find the way out. I’m sure you can too.”
Michael took a steadying breath. “Then let’s end this.”
Chapter153
We cut our palms, pressing our hands together. Blood pooled between us, dripping onto the ground.
Seconds passed in tense silence.
“How do we know it’s working?” I whispered.
Then, the sound of movement. Howls in the distance. A chorus of growls.
Michael grinned. “There’s your answer.””
Relief crashed over me, but I knew better than to celebrate too
soon.
“If Xavier’s power is returning, that means he’s still somewhere inside this maze.”
Michael’s expression darkened. “Then we find him before he finds us.”
I nodded, shifting back into my wolf form. “Take us back,” I whispered to my wolf.
Asher’s POV
I couldn’t even believe my eyes when I came back to the castle

and found that Violet was not in here.
“You let her walk out of here without even telling me?” My voice was dangerously low, but the anger bubbling inside me was anything but quiet. Furious didn’t even begin to describe it.
Alpha Charlotte folded her arms, looking unimpressed. “She’s the Queen. In times like these, she has obligations.”
I shot her a glare. “You better pray nothing happens to her, because if it does, I’ll personally make sure you regret it.” I knew Violet was strong, but she was carrying my child. The risk was too high.
Jayden stepped in, disbelief written all over his face. “Mom, you knew Violet is pregnant, and you still let her go?”
I was glad Jayden was here. I wasn’t standing alone in this. And it wasn’t just him–Jose and Kade had brought their warriors, ready for battle.
Philip, ever the realist, sighed. “Look, if we’re being honest, Violet and Michael were the reason this war even started. At this point, we are practically fighting a losing battle.”
I turned to him sharply. “None of that matters when my mate and my child are in danger. Nothing else comes before them.”
Chapter 153
Kade placed a firm hand on my shoulder. “We need a plan, King Asher. That shield protecting the pack won’t hold forever. We have to move.”
I knew he was right, but I couldn’t shake the unease gnawing at
- me.
Alpha Charlotte frowned at us, still holding her ground, “Violet risked her life to make that shield happen. That has to mean something. Don’t waste your time on trying to replace the shield.”
I clenched my jaw. “Maybe, but don’t talk to me like we’re on the same side.” Alpha Charlotte may think she was Violet’s mother and we had been through something so that naturally made us friends. But she couldn’t be more wrong.
Simon chimed in, his expression grim. “And we just found out that Xavier had vanished. No one saw him leave, no one knows where he went. That’s not a coincidence.”
That sent a chill through me. “The fact that they attacked the same day we uncovered their plan? That’s no accident either. We’ve got a rat in our ranks.”
Kade nodded. “We need Michael. He’s our only shot at figuring

out Xavier’s next move.”
I exhaled sharply. “Fine. But right now, we need time. We need to regroup, strategize, and not get reckless. We’ve already lost too much ground.”
Kade crossed his arms. “Maybe you should talk to the council, find out what they really want before this escalates further. That’s a good way to buy us more time.”
I scoffed. “That’d make me look weak. They already want me on my knees–I’m not about to serve myself up to them on a platter.”
Grace, standing nearby, finally spoke up. “Where’s Matthew by the way?”
Jose had brought her along, given her position as his lead warrior. Violet was going to be furious with this. But at this point I needed as much manpower as possible.
I frowned. “I don’t know. Last I saw him was when we left. I don’t even remember him fighting beside us.”
Grace narrowed her eyes. “You think he could’ve tipped off the
council?”
