I didn’t like the way she was being vague, but I also knew
pushing her for answers wouldn’t get me anywhere. Instead, I
changed the subject. “Enough about my baby. What’s been
happening while we were gone?”
She sighed. “The Council is pushing back hard against your plan
to destroy the Celestine flower.”
I groaned. “Of course they are. Those old bastards think they
run everything.”
Charlotte nodded. “Unfortunately, we may not need their
permission, but we do need their cooperation.”
Before I could respond, a sharp pain tore through my stomach,
making me gasp.
Olivia eyes widened. “Are you okay?”
I gritted my teeth as the pain faded almost as quickly as it came.
“Yeah, I’m fine.”
Charlotte wasn’t convinced. “Should I call Asher?”
Chapter 139
I shook my head. “No. He’s busy, and I don’t want him to
worry.”
Too late. Asher’s voice rang through our mind link. Too bad,
because I felt that. What’s going on?
I sighed. I’m fine.
“You’re a terrible liar,” Olivia muttered, crossing her arms.
Before I could argue, Asher’s tone sharpened. I’m on my way.
The moment he arrived, the pack doctor wasn’t far behind.
Asher rushed to my side, eyes filled with concern. “Are you
okay?”
I nodded, though I knew he could feel the truth. But before the
doctor could even check me, another voice filled the room–one
that made my heart drop.
“Don’t bother, doctor. I’ll take it from here.”
I turned, and there she was–the Seer.
A shiver ran down my spine as her eerie, knowing gaze met
mine.
Chapter 139
Asher stiffened beside me. “Why are you here?”
I held my breath looking at her. Everything was fine before we
came back here. What could possibly go wrong in such a short
amount of time? If anything went wrong with my child, I
wouldn’t forgive myself.
The Seer’s expression didn’t change. “Because if you destroy the
Celestine flower, your baby will not survive.”
Silence filled the room, thick with shock and dread. My breath
caught in my throat. “What did you just say?”
The Seer took a step forward. “You heard me.”
Everything I thought I knew, every decision we had made up
until now–it all shattered in an instant.
Violet’s POV
My baby’s safety was related to the Celestine Flower? That was
the most ridiculous thing I had ever heard.
I was sure that they were manipulating me. Maybe the council
was behind this as well. They just didn’t want to get rid of the
flower.
Chapter 130
“No, forget about it.” I snapped at the Seer, my voice sharp as a
blade. “You can take your prophecy and shove it where the sun.
doesn’t shine. There is no universe where I let you or anyone
else use my child as a bargaining tool. I don’t care what divine
connections you have or what power the Moon Goddess holds,
my child is not up for negotiation.”
Asher reached out, his grip gentle but firm on my arm.
“Breathe, babe. Let’s not make rash decisions-”
“Rash?” I whirled on him, fury boiling under my skin. “You
expect me to stand here and watch this madness while our
child’s life is being wagered like some cheap gamble? Over my
dead body!”
The Seer sighed, hands folded in front of her like she was a
patient teacher dealing with an unruly student. “I understand
your anger, my queen, but I am merely the messenger.“”
“Oh, so now you’re just the messenger?” I scoffed. “Funny how
you never seem to foresee actual threats. Where were your
visions when Isaac was spiraling down the wrong path? Or
when my daughter was snatched away from me? When Asher
was kidnapped and in danger, were you too busy looking the
other way? You conveniently show up now, but when I
actually needed you, you were nowhere to be found.”
Chapter139
For the first time, a flicker of hurt passed across her face. Good.
Let her feel an ounce of what I felt.
“My visions are not perfect,” she admitted. “I see glimpses,
fragments of possibilities. But-”
“Save it,” I cut her off. “I’m done listening to half–baked
prophecies and riddles wrapped in mystery. You are useless to
- me. Get the hell out of here”
The Seer bowed slightly before whispering, “Then I will take
my leave.”
As soon as she was gone, my mother, Alpha Charlotte, gave me
one of her signature disapproving looks. “You should have at
least heard her out. This is about your child. Every tiny clue
matters!
That only made my anger worse.
“You of all people are not entitled to give me that talk. You
definitely don’t get to tell me what is good for my child.” I
clenched my jaw, glaring at her. “Unlike you, I won’t sit back
and let people toy with my child’s fate. I will burn this place to the ground before I let anyone lay a finger on my baby!“”
