The only thing that mattered now was that my parents–or more accurately my adoptive parents. What I did have nothing to do with them. They were good people, totally innocent. They had saved me when no one else would. If it weren’t for them, I
would have died years ago, discarded like trash.
And yet, I repaid them with betrayal. I let them get captured
and watched them being tortured in front of me. I couldn’t protect them from those evil people–that was my biggest regret.
That just made me hate Asher even more.
I thought I was fighting for justice, that hunting down the truth
about my lineage would set things right. But in the end, the
truth had been much simpler: my birth parents had abandoned
- They cast me aside and kept their chosen son, Asher.
And when I finally got my revenge, when I took their lives with
my own hands, I thought it would fill the void they left in me.
But it never did.
If things had been different–if I had someone like Violet at my
side the way Asher did–would I have let my anger go? If I had

been given love instead of rejection, would I have been able to
move on?
Maybe, but I would never find out.
Because my own mate had turned away from me, chose the son
my parents had favored, the one who had everything.
It was so fucking unfair. Why did Asher get to have everything.
And why did I have to get punish for just wanting to get a slice
of what he already had? Power, respect, love–the world fell at
his feet, and all he had to do was reach for it. Meanwhile,
everything I had ever grasped crumbled between my fingers.
“I can’t believe this is it.This is the end.”
Max exhaled a hollow laugh beside me, shaking his head. He
sounded lost. And honestly, so was I. I felt like there was still so
many things I hadn’t done but I’d never had the chance.
“Life was never going to be fair for people like us.” I scoffed,
hiding my vulnerability.
“You reap what you sow, Isaac,” he muttered. “And so did the
rest of us. We deserve to be here.” But I couldn’t agree to that.
From my point of view, he was innocent. He wouldn’t have
done any of those things if it weren’t for Alpha Xavier pulling
the strings.
Kylie spoke up, softly. “At least you don’t have to worry about your parents suffering because of you. Asher and Violet might hate us, but they wouldn’t hurt innocent people.”
I shot her a glare. “You really think of them as a couple of saints, do you? Violet ordered my parents to be tortured. Right in front of my fucking eyes! She’d crucify them just to see me in pain.”
“You think that was enough to count as harm? At least parents are still breathing. Can Asher say the same about his?” she pointed out sharply.
I clenched my jaw, my nails digging into my palms. She was walking a dangerous line.
“You didn’t watch your parents getting tortured in front of you so shut the fuck up!” I growled. “Now I’ll never be able to erase
that image from my head.”
She sneered, “Soon you’ll forget these all together because you’ll
be dead!””
“We will all be dead. I’m glad that you are coming down with
me.” I said. Her lips trembled. Good looks like I had hit a sore
spot.
Chapter116
“This is the end for us and you are still attacking your mate? Do
you even have a conscious?” Michael snapped. And I rolled my eyes. I do have a conscious. I just don’t waste it on people like them. Thankfully so far I hadn’t let my useless conscious guide
me to live my life.
Michael saw that eyeroll and his face darkened, “You pretend
that you are such a badass and the whole world owes it to you.
But deep down you are just a big baby who couldn’t live with
your childhood trauma and blames it on everyone. Pathetic.”
I gritted my teeth, glaring at him. I wished I could spit at hirn,
telling him that he was wrong. But deep down I knew that he
saw me for exactly who I was. But to hell with him, I wouldn’t
let him get all condescending on me.
“And I could say the same thing about you, Michael. You blame
Asher for a crime that he didn’t commit. You are both stupid
and pathetic!”
He looked as though he just got slapped in the face. “Fuck you
Isa-”
But his cursing was interrupted by footsteps. Simon came back
again and this time he wasn’t alone, Asher was with him.
