Asher’s POV
The moment my consciousness returned, I could tell something had changed.
The suffocating grip of silver had weakened, and the pain that had clung to every nerve in my body had dulled. I didn’t need to open my eyes to know Violet had found me. I had never
doubted she would.
She always did.
A slow, unsteady breath slipped from my lips as I tried to push myself up, but my body was sluggish, heavy, like I had been weighed down by chains for too long. In a way, I had. If Violet hadn’t come for me, I wouldn’t have lasted much longer. The
silver would have done its job, and Michael. Michael didn’t have
the nerve to finish me himself.
That betrayal cut deeper than anything Isaac had ever done to
- me. I had grown up alongside Michael. I trusted him, considered
him my brother, only for him to turn on me without so much
as a second thought.
Chapter113
Yet instead of standing by me, he let others twist his mind, let their words poison him. He never once tried to understand me- never once tried to see beyond the lies,
A slow growl rumbled in my throat as I clenched my fists,
feeling the dull ache of wounds that my wolf was still trying to heal.
The physical pain was nothing compared to the wound Michael had left in me.
“You’re awake“”
My breath hitched at the sound of Violet’s voice. Soft. Warm. The only thing that still felt like home.
When I turned my head toward her, she was already watching me, her gaze filled with something raw, something unspoken. It was like I was the very air she breathed, and I understood that feeling far too well.
“I’m fine,” I murmured, though the exhaustion in my limbs said otherwise. As soon as I connected with my wolf again, I could feel the way her emotions crashed against mine–fear, anxiety, relief.
She had been terrified.
“I was so scared for you,” she whispered, her fingers trailing
along my jaw before resting against my cheek, her touch light but grounding. I exhaled slowly, leaning into it.
“I knew you’d find me.”
Her lips pressed into a thin line before she sighed, dropping her hand. “You could’ve died.”
Silence stretched between us for a moment before I asked, “Did
anything happen while I was gone?” Because knowing our
lives, something always happened.
Violet hesitated, just for a second.
“You don’t have to worry about that. Everything’s fine.”‘ She
smiled, but it didn’t quite reach her eyes.
A frown tugged at my brows. “Mia?”
“She’s safe,” she assured me. “Now that you’re back, I know
she’ll come home, too.”
We had already lost too much. We had been hurt, betrayed,
broken. But I refused to let it happen again. I would never let
my guard down–not when forgiveness had only brought us
more pain.
Chapter113
“Where the hell is Michael?” My voice came out sharper than I
intended, but I didn’t care. I barely remembered anything
between the time they found me and now. But I needed to
know Michael was locked away where he belonged.
Violet’s expression darkened. “In the dungeon–with Kylie and
Isaac.”
A harsh scoff left my lips. Good. They deserved to rot together.
“We’ve let this drag on for too long.” My fingers curled into fists
against the sheets. “It’s time we punished anyone who betrayed us.” I should have killed them a long time ago. But my mate and
I had soft hearts and we let them live. Now look at what they
did to their own blood–they didn’t give a fuck about us.
“I know it’s the right thing to do,” Emilia sighed, rubbing her
temples. “But that doesn’t make it any easier.”
I scoffed. “It never is.”
A knock at the door cut through the tension.
“Can we come in?”
Both of us turned to see Jayden and Philip standing in the doorway, an odd stiffness in their posture. There was
something in the air between them, something unspoken.
I nodded, and they stepped inside.
“Haven’t you gone back to your pack?” I asked Jayden, raising a brow.
“You were missing” Jayden said simply, crossing his arms. “Somebody had to take care of Emilia.”
I nodded. These were my brothers. I appreciated how they stayed back and took care of Violet while I was gone. But I was a bit surprised that Violet brought back Michael alone without them by her side.
“You good?” Philip asked.
“I’ve had better days.” I said, forcing a smirk. “But I’ll live.”
Jayden exhaled, running a hand down his face. “I don’t know
what to say!” His voice was strained, like the weight of the
world was pressing down on his shoulders. “Michael has
always been reckless, but this. I would have never imagined.”
