Chapter38
“Maybe in the future it wasn’t Caleb who dumped me, but I dumped him.”
“You dumped him?” Carlene looked exaggeratedly surprised. “You
wouldn’t dump him. Only a fool would give up being the president’s wife of Voyage Group!”
Phalicia took a slow sip of coffee, leaned against the island, smiled without saying anything, and there was just a cold glint in her eyes.
Carlene rarely got up early for work, she crashed on the couch and took another nap.
Phalicia left home, heading to Triumph Law Firm.
Last time, Phalicia went to Triumph Law Firm and the prison one after another. Caleb only asked her about seeing her brother.
It was obvious Caleb was watching the prison, not her movements.
This time, she could go to Triumph Law Firm to sign the retainer agreement without worry.
Ten minutes later, Phalicia and Horacio sat facing each other. After signing, they handed the contract documents to each other solemnly.
“Mr. Thatcher, I left my brother to you.”
Horacio took the contract and signed his name.
They all knew what this super unfair contract meant.
“You said your brother was being watched closely.”

Horacio looked up at Phalicia. “If I go look into your brother, it’ll attract attention.”
Phalicia said casually, “Yeah, but if Mr. Thatcher couldn’t even handle this, then he shouldn’t be the backbone of Triumph Law Firm.”
“Do you know how to handle it?” Horacio leaned back in his chair, “Tell me about it.”
Phalicia paused and looked at him seriously, “The lawyers from Monarch Law Firm worked on my brother’s case for three whole years and didn’t get him even a single day off his sentence. That alone was enough for their family to be laughed at, enough for Triumph Law Firm to step in and show them some real strength.”
Both law firms were at the top of the industry at the same time.
Behind Caleb was the Monarch Legal Team, full of top students who had graduated from foreign law schools.
As for Triumph Law Firm.

Phalicia didn’t really know how good the lawyers at Triumph Law Firm were, and she didn’t even bother to find out how Horacio became the best lawyer at Triumph Law Firm.
But she knew that any law firm that could go toe–to–toe with the ones backed by Voyage Group, without any capital involved, must have something special.
Phalicia pulled back her thoughts and looked at Horacio with a smile. “How did I do with my analysis?”
Horacio stirred his coffee, his eyes and brows blurred by the steam.
The woman’s pale face from last night was still fresh in my mind.

He said calmly, “If you have the energy for this, you might as well deal with the messy people around you.”
Phalicia’s smile froze.

She first met Horacio and thought he didn’t talk much or make trouble, so he was perfect for getting things done for her
But she didn’t expect that Horacio kept mocking her for not doing anything about her husband cheating.
These ugly things, the scars of betrayal, and the reasons for putting up with it didn’t need to be shared with anyone.
We didn’t get along, so Phalicia just got up and left.
Horacio suddenly reached out and grabbed her arm.
Horacio’s palm was really warm, so hot that Phalicia froze for a second.
“Just a reminder, don’t get too deep in any relationship, don’t bet on human nature, the people you cared about only turned into the knife that stabbed you.”
Phalicia frowned lightly.
No doubt, she thought what Horacio said made a lot of sense.
Before she was betrayed, she thought anyone could hurt her, except Caleb
and Carlene.
Horacio let go of Phalicia’s arm: “Just speaking from experience, just a heads–up, don’t overthink it.”
Phalicia said, “What Mr. Thatcher said was very authoritative, I learned a lot.”

She opened the door and went out.

The person had already left for two minutes, and Horacio was still sitting at the table.
He looked at the glass Phalicia had touched, and there was still a faint lipstick mark on the rim.
Ryan came in, looking gossipy: “What’s going on?”
“Didn’t.”
Horacio got up: “I’ll go to Sarodom Prison this afternoon, you handle the audit stuff over there.”
Ryan was speechless. “Leave it all to me? You sure care a lot about Phalicia’s brother! Wait, no, looks like you care a lot about her!”
Horacio ignored it and walked away quickly.

Phalicia didn’t go back to the office, she went to the gym to work out.
She was sweating like crazy on the treadmill, and her fitness watch showed her heart rate shot up to 166 and stayed high.
The more I sweated, the clearer my mind was.
Phalicia slowly sorted everything out in her mind.
