Chapter35
She held onto the table, feeling so dizzy that everything blurred in front of her, and she didn’t even realize Phalicia’s rejection and disgust toward her.
“Licia, answer me! Could I get into the world rankings or not? Your ranking back then, could I have beaten you too?”
Phalicia stood up and looked down at her. “Yeah, you’ll be number one in the world soon.” First joke.
“I’m going to the bathroom, you stay here.”
She pulled out the chair and walked out slowly.
This restaurant really cared about privacy, and there wasn’t anyone in the hallway.
The private room was well soundproofed, and you couldn’t hear anything from inside when you were in the hallway,
Phalicia walked around the hallway and was about to leave when she suddenly heard something around the corner.
She walked softly, got closer, and saw the corner of the woman’s pink knit
sweater.
“Why? Cal, you were worried I’d be in danger if I got drunk, so you took me in, but today you said you didn’t want to see me. Did I do something wrong?”
Facing Shevonne’s aggressive stance, Caleb stayed tense, his hands at his sides clenched.

His face was hidden in the dark, his eyes gloomy: “I have a fiancee, Ms. Sandoval, and who are you to me? Do I have any reason I must see you?”
“There was!”
Shevonne moved a step closer, almost pressing up against him.
“You loved me, you couldn’t forget me, even if you seemed happy with Phalicia, you still couldn’t let me go, because I was truly your first woman.”
Caleb’s pupils trembled a little: “Shut up! That’s not how things went, who do you think you are? I…”
He hadn’t finished speaking when Shevonne suddenly stood on tiptoe and kissed his lips.
Phalicia looked at Caleb and was stunned at first, then reached out to push Shevonne, but was shocked by the tears on Shevonne’s face and ended up hugging her tightly around the waist.
The two of them kissed passionately in the dim hallway, and the sound of their saliva was clearly heard.
Phalicia’s stomach churned, and she almost threw up.
Luckily, she stuck to her boundaries and didn’t let Caleb touch her.
She took out her phone, quietly shot a ten–second video, turned around, and bumped into someone.
There was a bang, making quite a noise.
Caleb snapped out of it and pushed Shevonne away hard.
Shevonne bumped into the wall and let out a pained gasp.

Caleb didn’t care about her and dashed around the corner.
A waiter came toward me in the hallway, and there was no one else.
Caleb stared at the waiter. “Was there someone here just now?”
The waiter shook his head and said to him respectfully, “No, sir, it’s just
me.”
Caleb waved his hand, and the doubt in his eyes was gone.
The waiter left.
His breathing was unsteady, and the soft feeling on his lips seemed to still be there, but he just felt inexplicably annoyed.
I was supposed to ignore Shevonne, but I couldn’t do it.
And just thinking that Phalicia was waiting for him in a nearby room made him even more inexplicably angry.
Caleb turned around, his face completely dark. “Shevonne, I’m warning you, this is the last time. Don’t do anything rash!”
Shevonne bit her lip and walked toward him step by step, her eyes turning
red.
“Cal, you were obviously into me.”
“Are you really willing to marry Phalicia? You didn’t love her, the marriage wouldn’t last long.”
No matter what she said, Caleb stayed silent: “Just go, don’t come looking for me again!”
He deliberately threw out some harsh words and left without looking
back.

Chapter35
It got quiet outside, and there was only a faint sound of wind in the hallway.

It was pitch black in front of her. Phalicia was pulled into a man’s arms from behind. His strong arm reached past her face, pressing against the stairwell door, just in case someone tried to come in.
She smelled a faint scent of ink on the man. Her heart was beating fast, not sure if it was from being startled or because of this close contact.
Phalicia took a deep breath and calmed her heartbeat: “They should have left already.”
The man didn’t respond and just held her tight.
Phalicia pried off his arm that was around her.
“Let go of me, Horacio.”
The person behind me moved a bit.
Phalicia turned around to look at Horacio.
He wasn’t wearing his lawyer suit today, just a dark gray cashmere sweater with a black wool coat over it. He looked kind of lazy, and that keep away from me vibe he usually had was a bit weaker.
“What were you planning to do?”
He lowered his eyes and stared at Phalicia.
