Chapter 22
Noticing this, he was stunned. As he walked in front of her, he gasped.
Tears were streaming down her face, and her silent sobs were somehow deafening.
She bit her lip, looking so aggrieved, “You took Shevonne’s side in front of so many people today. Do you really expect me to be OK with an apology? Do you have any idea how much this hurts me?”
His heart softened at once as he held her in his arms tightly. “I’m sorry. It’s all my fault. Stop crying, alright? You’re breaking my heart.”
Leaning against his shoulder, she wrapped her arms around his neck. Where his gaze couldn’t reach, a quiet hatred pooled in her eyes.
“I’ll forgive you if you promise me one thing,” she said softly.
Smiling, he ruffled her hair. “Yeah?”
“I want my savings account back,” she said naturally.
His expression changed at once. In the next second, he regained composure and asked in confusion, “Why? Do you need money? If so, I’ll transfer 150 thousand dollars to you. You can buy whatever you want.”
Biting her lip, she said in a small voice, “But I want my account back. Caleb, I’ve been thinking–I wanna lease some land for a side business. Also, I plan to buy Riverview Villa for us to live in after we get married. I’m gonna need a lot of money for all this.”
Caleb was hesitant. “But you’re stretched so thin with everything going on in the Jewelry Department. A side business? Are you sure?”

“You promised me that I could open a restaurant, serving our favorite dishes only. Remember? And about the villa–I want to decorate it in our own little way.” She gently shook his hand, her eyes full of anticipation.
Caleb’s preferences were prioritized in every expense.
He grinned, enjoying the feeling that she couldn’t live without him.
As his gaze fell upon her, he said with a satisfied smile, “Alright. You can go to the Finance Department and tell them.”
Phalicia smiled, too.
“Caleb, you’re the best.”
The smile on her face was radiant, yet her eyes were devoid of any
emotion.
Just as he was about to hold her in his arms again, his phone rang.
He took it out of his pocket. In the next second, his expression changed as he saw the caller ID.
Turning around, he walked to the window and answered.

“What?” He lowered his voice. “How did she get drunk? I’ll be right over. Keep an eye on her–don’t let anyone take advantage of her.”
After hanging up, he looked up, only to see Phalicia standing behind him with his suit jacket in hand.
Instantly, his heart skipped a beat.
She must have overheard him.

Nervous, he studied her expression. “Licia, a friend of mine got drunk and fought with someone…”

“Go ahead and take care of it. Hey, be safe, OK?” she interrupted him with a smile while handing him the jacket.
Hearing this, he was relieved. Before walking out the door, he paused slightly and turned around to say firmly, “Licia, I love you.”
She smiled shyly, “Me too.”
Only then did he leave without looking back.
Her face turned cold as she heard the sound of the engine.
In fact, she had heard everything–Clinton called, wanting Caleb to go see
Shevonne.
Maybe she was supposed to be sad, but she didn’t feel a thing.
There were more important things on her plate now.

Phalicia got up early the next day.
She turned down the overseas team’s proposal. Instead, she told them on the phone curtly that the Jewelry Department wasn’t planning overseas
expansion.
