Chapter 10
Carlene grinned while walking inside, oblivious to Phalicia’s forced
smile.
Phalicia turned around and watched as Carlene looked for drinks in the
fridge.
In fact, Phalicia had always preferred quietness ever since childhood. To her, one or two close friends were enough.
A decade ago, Caleb had been her neighbor, and Carlene had been her
deskmate.
She had hit it off with Carlene, and they had been close friends for ten whole years now.
Carlene had been her only bestie since middle school.
Carlene could move in with her at any time and use everything of hers- right down to her debit cards.
She would do anything for her friends without any complaint.
But Carlene?
She wasn’t guilty at all of plotting against the Lombard family together with Caleb. What was more, she shamelessly claimed Phalicia’s designs as her own and even tried to take everything away from Phalicia! What an ungrateful parasite!
Phalicia slammed the door shut and walked toward Carlene, trying her best to suppress the great hatred surging within her.

“It’s so late. What do you want? Are you gonna stay the night?” she asked.
Carlene opened a bottle of milk, blinked at her, and said meaningfully, “A birdie told me you had a quarrel with Caleb. I got worried, so here I am.”
So, it was Caleb who had sent Carlene here to soothe her.
She looked down. “I’m fine. You’ve got nothing to worry about.”
“Oh, really? It’s been three years, and you still won’t sleep with him. Isn’t that worrying?” Carlene said helplessly while taking a sip of the milk.
Hearing this, Phalicia looked up abruptly. “Are you here to speak for Caleb?”
“What? No. You know I always look out for you.”
Carlene put down the bottle, walked over, grabbed her hand, and said patiently, “Men like the bold type. You’re gonna marry him soon, right? Maybe it’s time to loosen up a bit. What’s the point of being so reserved?”
Phalicia couldn’t help but shove Carlene’s hand away.
“What happens between Caleb and me is our business. If you’re here to talk to me about this, you can go.”
Carlene was stunned, a wave of displeasure flickering in her eyes.
Phalicia used to follow her every word. How come she was so stubborn today?
Curling her lip, she said, “I’m saying this for your own good. Or why would I bother coming here this late? I mean it. Since you’re gonna be his wife anyway, what’s the point of saving your first time on your wedding night?”
Phalicia squinted, noticing the eagerness on Carlene’s face.

Chapter 10
Over the past three years, Caleb had always played the gentleman, pretending that he respected her.

As for Carlene? After being dumped by a punk in middle school, she had been in several relationships and had several abortions, always egging her on to experience “the most amazing thing in life“.
And for the past three years, Carlene had always encouraged her to sleep with Caleb.
She had never taken it seriously. But now that she thought about it, Carlene probably wanted to see her give Caleb her first time and then get dumped by him ruthlessly.
Having low self–respect was one thing, and trying to ruin her was another.
How scheming and disgusting.
She smiled, “My parents raised me well, so, unlike someone, I know how important self–respect is and will never jump into bed with anyone.”
“Licia, what are you talking about?”
Carlene pulled a long face at once, questioning, “Are you calling me cheap?”
