Chapter 5
At the still blazing accident scene, firefighters were assisting the staff to evacuate.
Ignoring the peripheral personnel’s obstruction, Jared insisted on rushing into the blocked fire scene.
“Raquel! Raquel, where are you?”
He pulled one after another out of the fire, escaping death, his face blackened by smoke.
But none of them were the people he was looking for.
The crew members saw him and their expressions were very solemn. “Ms. Bryd has not been found yet… The explosion occurred closest to her, it was a detonation, the impact was really strong, and the fireball surrounded her at that time…”
“I’m sorry, Mr. Lewey. The fire department has searched multiple times, but they haven’t found Ms. Bryd. Unfortunately, it seems unlikely that she
survived.”
“Impossible!” Jared’s eyes were bloodshot as he was about to rush into the fire scene, which was still constantly exploding. “Search! Everyone, go search for me! I’ll give you money, I have a lot of money! My Raquel is still inside, alive and needs to be seen, dead… dead needs to be seen as a corpse!”
The firefighter stopped him and looked at his distraught and frantic appearance with great sympathy. “I’m really sorry, Mr. Lewey. The force of the explosion was too strong, and Ms. Bryd may have been carbonized… There’s no trace of her remains.”
Jared’s legs went weak, and he clumsily fell to the ground.
He grabbed his hair tightly with both hands, and his knuckles turned white from the force.
“Why did I…?” he let out a painful sob.
Tears welled up in the eyes.
Every time Raquel had to shoot a dangerous scene, he would personally inspect the safety measures carefully.
This was the only time…
Full of shock, pain, and regret, he was completely overwhelmed like a surging tide.
Jared stayed at the accident scene for a whole day and night, but there was still no outcome.
He didn’t believe that Raquel would really die, so he ordered to block the news of Raquel’s accident.
The next day, he returned home with a pale face and a lost soul.
The curtains were open, and the sunlight filled the entire room, making everything inside warm and cozy.
But in this warm environment, the one person who should have been here was missing.
The phone rang, and it was the assistant, “Mr. Lewey, the signing of the contract for Ms. Tatiana’s new movie investment requires your official seal.”
Jared raised his hand and vigorously rubbed his tired cheek, his consciousness finally returning. As he opened the study’s safe, he said, “You come and take the official seal away. From now on, you guys handle Tatiana’s matters, no need to go through me.”
He suddenly froze.
There was not only a company seal inside, but also a letter.
“Jared, when you read this letter, I had already chosen to leave you.”
“Recalling every bit, those moments that once made my heart flutter, now appear to be the greatest irony.”
“The look in your eyes that said you loved me, was actually never directed towards me.‘
“I used to think that we were destined to be together, but little did I know it was just a play directed by you.”
During this period, I felt like I was trapped in a nightmare, finally realizing that I was just a substitute for your obsession.
gave you all my sincerity, but for you, I was just a pastime to fill the void.”
“You wove a web of lies, trapping me within it, making me live in a false happiness.”
“I don’t blame you, but I also can’t accept being someone else’s shadow.”
“Goodbye, Jared.”

“From then on, the mountains were high and the waters were far, and there was no longer any connection.”
Jared tightly clenched the letter in his hand. He repeatedly pounded the nearby wall with his fist, letting out agonizing screams.
The fist quickly oozed fresh blood.
But compared to the pain in his heart, this slight physical pain was insignificant.
He called his childhood friend one by one and interrogated, “Who on earth! Who was badmouthing in front of Raquel!”
On the birthday banquet that day, the girl carefully reminded, “Mr. Lewey, I felt like Raquel sister didn’t sleep that night…”
