Chapter 2
Wayne’s face became impatient.
“Because of Carina? As I mentioned before, she is the sister of my good friend. I just take care of her because her brother entrusted her to me before he went abroad. I can’t just go back on my word, can 1?
“Besides, if there were something between me and her, I wouldn’t be with you.”
Every time I had a slight suspicion about their relationship, Wayne would refute me with this sentence.
I had heard it countless times in the past five years.
If I hadn’t accidentally seen his phone, I would never have realized that the person I had shared a bed with for seven years sent messages to a girl named Carina every day for the past five years.
They did things that only couples did
He hadn’t even done some of those things with me, his lawful wife,
They were the domineering CEO and the pretty secretary.
Everyone knew that they had a good relationship; even their colleagues at the company would tease Carina as Wayne’s lover.
At first, Wayne would pretend to be displeased and scold them, but later he became smilingly acquiescent.
I used to be hysterical before, but in the end, all I got were impatient remarks from him.
“Just a few v jokes. Why all the fuss? No one
one is trying to steal your position, Mrs. Reid!”
1 bit my lip, closed my eyes, and then said, “I got tired of listening to this.
“Don’t you like Carina? If you sign it, you can be openly together with her.
“You don’t have to explain to me every time that she is your good friend’s sister.”
“Allison! When did I ever say that I liked her?”
Wayne suddenly snatched the divorce agreement.
“And where can you go after divorcing me? You are already 30 years old, having been a full–time housewife for seven years, with a low educational background and no work experience. Who will hire you? How will you get the money to support yourself?”
His words were like a heavy hammer, smashing down hard on my heart.
The year I graduated from college, I had intended to start a business with Wayne.
Unexpectedly, I became pregnant.
The doctor said that my body was weak, and if I had an abortion, it would cause significant harm to my body, and it might be difficult for me to conceive a child in the future.
For the sake of my well–being. Wayne decided to keep the child.
And I tended to have miscarriages, so I could only rest at home.
So later on, he started a business all by himself.
One year later, his company successfully went public.
At that time, he knelt down on one knee and put a diamond ring on me, promising me a grand wedding
At the wedding, he solemnly declared, “Allison, I will never let you down in this lifetime. From now on, you just need to live happily at home while I will work outside to support the family.”
My nose twitched, and I opened my mouth to retort hip, but I was left speechless.
He crumpled the divorce agreement into a ball, and his angry expression slowly eased. “Allison, I will pretend I never heard it today, and don’t bring it up again in the future.”

He found the exquisite box in the drawer. The moment he stepped out of the door, his footsteps paused.
“By the way, I ordered an ice cream cake. Remember to sign for it. I will hurry back as soon as possible to celebrate our anniversary with you.”
So he still remembered that today was our seventh wedding anniversary.
But he forgot that today was the first day of my menstrual period, so I couldn’t eat ice cream.
I knew what was inside the pink gift box he took away.
This morning, I opened it with joy, thinking that it was a surprise specially prepared for me by Wayne.
However, I saw the words written on the greeting card.
“Carina, this is the medicine I had someone bring back from Peroland. If you take it during your menstrual period, you won’t feel any pain.”
The word “Carina” fiercely pierced my heart, causing intense pain.
Suddenly, there seemed to be a surge of warmth through my stomach.
Wrapped in warmth, I gently caressed my belly..
The next second, a scene that I had never experienced before flashed through my mind, appearing out of nowhere as if it had happened for real.
I saw that the 17–year–old Wayne blushed, placed a glass of stearning sugar water in front of the 17–year–old me, hurriedly turned around, and ran away. Slowly, this memory started to become old and faded, no longer preserved clearly in my mind.
I took out my phone and looked at Wayne on the screen, full of surprise.
Could the 17–year–old Wayne change the past and influence the present?
