Chapter 21 She Was Not an Orphan
Finished
Natalie had once loved too deeply, so now, when she spoke of letting go, it was hard for anyone to believe, including Hubert.
“There’s no need to provoke him. From now on, there’ll be no intersection between me and him.” Natalie said calmly.
Natalie busied herself alone in the kitchen, while Benson, Gavin, and Steven teamed up to play games in the living room,
“Nat, since when did you get so good at cooking?” Benson remarked, watching Natalie move deftly around the kitchen. Her smooth, practiced movements made it hard to reconcile this capable woman with the pampered girl he used to know,
“It’s all because of Hubert, Gavin explained. “After the car accident, his health was poor, and Natalie painstakingly nursed him back to health.”
“D*mn it! Nursed him back to health so he could go fool around with other women? There’s no one as foolish as Nat, Benson growled, his eyes welling with tears.
Natalie, the daughter of the Gray family, their cherished princess, didn’t deserve to be mistreated by the Lawson family. Benson picked up his phone and dialed a number. “Arnold, it’s almost New Year. Let’s kill everyone in the Lawson family. Butcher the pigs and eat the meat”
“What the hell are you talking about? I’m here. Open the door,” came Arnold’s reply.
Benson tugged on Natalie’s sleeve. “Nat, go open the door. The ATM has arrived!”
Natalie had seen reports online about Hubert and Britney’s scandal, so she knew the Gray family would come looking for her. She just didn’t expect them to come so quickly.
The moment Natalie saw Arnold Gray, whom she hadn’t seen in two years, her tears broke free like a flood. Unable to keep up the façade of composure, she sobbed uncontrollably. “Arnold, I missed you so much!”
Choking back tears, Natalie flung herself into Arnold’s arms like a bird returning to its nest.
Natalie had been raised by a pastor, whom outsiders referred to as Mr. Divine. Growing up, her companions were the pastor and the brothers and sisters of the church.
It wasn’t until two years ago, when the Cathay police cracked a major criminal case, that information from the perpetrators led the Gray family to Natalie after a long and winding search.
Only then did Natalie learn she wasn’t an orphan but the daughter of the Gray family, kidnapped at the age of three. For years, her family had never given up hope of finding her.
Shortly after reuniting with her parents and brothers, Kevin approached her, saying Hubert was on the brink of death.
The Gray family thought she was only going to help, but to their shock, she never returned. Instead, she insisted on marrying Hubert, who was still unconscious at the time.
Her mother fainted upon hearing the news and had to be hospitalized. Her father and Arnold took a private jet to overnight, only for Natalie to declare her decision to sever ties with the Gray family.

At the time, she coldly said, “It was the pastor who raised me, Whatever I do, it’s none of the Gray family’s business.”
That one sentence chilled the hearts of everyone in the Gray family.
Even so, they refused to give up and visited the church where she had grown up. But by then, Mr. Divine and several brothers had already passed away, and the family only managed to gather a few pieces of information about Natalie’s sisters.
Despite their efforts, they couldn’t stop her from marrying into the Lawson family. She even cut off contact with the brothers and sisters she had grown up with.
The memories of her past surged into Natalie’s mind all at once. Like a child who had made a mistake, she sobbed quietly in Arnold’s armIS.

in the Lawson family, and that she hadn’t made a mistake in choosing her husband.

But given the current situation, it was clear the Lawson family had hurt her deeply. More than letting go, this was an act of helpless resignation.
“It’s okay. Nat, whenever you’re done playing around you can come home, Arnold said softly, stroking Natalie’s hair with a look of indulgence in his eyes.
