Chapter 12 Hi, Long Time No See!
Dylan said sheepishly. “We just found out someone donated 75 million dollars in the company’s name to the children’s welfare center.”
Hubert’s eyes narrowed sharply as his face soured. He said grimly. Find my wife no matter what it takes. I must know every place she went and everything she did yesterday. Also, get two more people to follow her around once she’s found!”
Hubert had a feeling that the donation must have been made by Natalie.
She wanted to tell him that marrying him had never been about the money. But what kind of confidence did it take to lavishly donate five billion?
Dylan replied, “Sure, Mr. Lawson.”
Hubert apparently didn’t seem to care that even with the divorce papers signed, he was still treating Natalie like his wife.
Meanwhile, Natalie was at the Tornham Children’s Welfare Center….
At the Children’s Welfare Center, Steven pleaded with Natalie, “Natalie, you can’t donate everything to us! You need… some money to eat!”
He couldn’t understand why she would donate all her divorce settlement money. How was she going to live after that? Seeing Steven’s face turn red with worry, Natalie smiled and said calmly. “Don’t worry. I can still take care of you!”
Leaving the welfare center, Natalie got back into her car and brought Steven along. She sped back to the most luxurious residential tower in the city center, Brookside Gardens.
“Natalie, who would’ve thought you’re the owner of the crown jewel of Brookside Gardens!” Gavin started shouting as soon as she opened the door to her unit, his father having coveted this prized unit for a long time.
Natalie rubbed her temples, reminding herself not to argue with this idiot. After all, upon leaving the welfare center, she had learned that it was Gavin who had drugged her and Hubert. She had already beaten him to a pulp. If she did it again, he might not even survive. “Yeah, I bought it when it first went on sale.”
Back then, she figured she needed a place in the city center, so this was the best place. It was a standard three–bedroom, two- bathroom apartment with a small study, decorated in a minimalist style.
“Do you know how much it’s worth now?” Gavin held up three fingers. Thirty million!”

Natalie couldn’t be bothered to respond. She didn’t care about the price because she wasn’t planning to sell. She went to her study, took out a new SIM card, inserted it into her phone, and casually discarded the old one.
“Wow, Natalie, are you really saying goodbye to the past?” Gavin wondered.

Natalie glared at Cavin. She raised an eyebrow and asked, ‘Do you think I’ll keep it for a rainy day? Also, what do yo want to eat? I’ll cook!
She then opened the fridge and tossed a bottle of water to both Gavin and Steven.
This place was Natalie’s private sanctuary. Whenever Madeline, Hannah or Hubert was out of town, she would come here for a visit. However, she never stayed overnight here. She had to return home by ten every night due to a curfew set by Hubert.
Steven, holding the bottle of water, walked up to Natalie with his eyelids lowered and stammered, “L… I… can cook. Let me… d this for you!”
He took the cucumber from Natalie’s hands and headed into the kitchen. Soon, Steven came out with three plates of food. The meal was simple but satisfying.
“How did you end up in Hubert’s hands?” Natalie asked. When she managed to take Steven away from Hubert, she was certain he had a story behind him.

he mocked. “Are you sure you worked at a club? You’d get bullied to death with this attitude! You’re clumsy stammer a lot when you’re nervous. You’re also very boring. Have you ever been requested by a client?”
“No… never. I only serve drinks, and nothing else…

Gavin nudged Natalie’s arm with a mischievous look. “How cruel. That Hubert guy sent you someone inexperienced, not caring if you’d get hurt!”
“Shut up!” Natalie snapped. As she updated her Instagram story, she turned to ask Steven. “Why did you end up in a club?”
“Money… for my mom… she’s sick and needs the money urgently!” Tears welled up in Steven’s eyes.
“Ding!” There was a notification sound on someone’s phone.
Gavin checked his phone. It was from Natalie’s latest Instagram story. It read, “Hi, long time no see! Just changed my number and created a new account.”
Gavin knew that Natalie had less than twenty Instagram mutuals, each of them among the people she trusted the most.
Natalie said. “Save my y new number and send me your mom’s details. I’ll introduce a talented doctor to her.”
Within three seconds, Gavin’s phone exploded with group messages pouring in. The first message read, “What’s going on! Why did Natalie suddenly update her stories?”
