Chapter 15
Chapter 15
Robert and Yvonne were stunned again. They couldn’t understand why they were having such good luck today.
“Dad, Mom, running a grocery store sounds great,” Nina said, looking pleasantly surprised. “You won’t have to work so hard out on the road anymore, and it’s super close to our home.”
Yvonne gave a small helpless smile. “Nina…”
“Don’t worry about the money,” the woman said. “The store’s not big, but it makes a lot.”
She spoke honestly to Robert and Yvonne. “My son’s marrying his girlfriend from overseas next month. I already bought them a big house there, and I’ll be helping take care of their kids, so I won’t be coming back.”
“If you’re interested in the store, we can sign an agreement,” she went on. “Just pay me 300 dollars a month at first. When you’re doing better, you can pay the rest faster-no rush.”
Nina said right away, “Ma’am, you’re so kind. Thank you.”
“Well, it’s nothing,” the woman said with a big smile. “I should be thanking your parents for solving this huge problem for me. I’ll head upstairs and call my son to get the paperwork ready.”
Robert and Yvonne were completely shocked. Nina just waved politely. “Bye!”
Then she turned to her parents, eyes shining. “Today is amazing! Dad, Mom, you won’t have to work so hard anymore.”
Robert and Yvonne had mixed expressions but didn’t say anything.
“Nina, you’re still young and full of dreams,” Robert finally said, his voice gentle but serious. “Even if today really is our lucky day, that doesn’t mean everyone out there is kind. Except for us, don’t trust what people say too easily, okay?”
“Got it, Dad.” Nina nodded and blinked at him.
Meanwhile, upstairs, the woman excitedly dialed a number.
“Go ahead,” said the voice on the other end. It was Chris.
“Sir, I’ve handed the grocery store over to that family like you asked. I’m about to give them the agreement,” she said, trying to hold back her joy. “About the money for my son’s overseas studies and living expenses…”
The woman was an elementary school teacher and a hardworking single mom. Her son was an outstanding student and had just been accepted to a top university abroad.
Even with a big scholarship, the living costs overseas were too much for them to afford. Her son had finally made the hard choice to give up.
But then, Chris-this total stranger-showed up like a ray of light. And now, with the money he promised, she could even go overseas to help take care of her son.
“I’ll transfer the money to your account in ten minutes,” Chris said. “Don’t come back.”
“Got it,” she replied. After hanging up, she burst into tears of joy. Letting out a long breath, she pulled the agreement she had prepared from her bag and headed to the second floor with a spring in her step.

“Wow, that’s quick.” Yvonne was a bit surprised. The agreement looked like it had been ready ahead of time.
“My son’s super thoughtful,” the woman beamed. “He actually wrote up the whole transfer agreement a while ago. After I told him the details just now, he made a few quick changes.”
“I’m a teacher, and we’ve got a printer at home, so I got it all done fast.” She handed them the papers. “Take your time and check it.”
Robert and Yvonne took the agreement and read it carefully, not even skipping the punctuation.
Just like the woman said, they could pay 300 dollars a month for up to a year. If they were three days late, there’d be a $60 fee added. Every three days after that, it would add another $60.
“Oh, and here’s the inventory list and the keys. You can go check them too,” the woman added, running quickly upstairs and back down. She was slightly out of breath. “All the buying prices and selling prices are listed. It’s easy to pick up.”
“Thank you,” Yvonne said, accepting the list and keys.
As strange as it all seemed, they went over the agreement again and again and found it was all good-with no downsides.
“No need to thank me. I need to head home and grab a bite and rest,” the woman said, waving and smiling with relief. “I’ve still got two more days before I quit officially. Can’t skip out on teaching the kids!”
