Chapter 4
There was no point in denying it, so I stayed quiet.
Liora freaked out. “I was just curious about what secret my uncle was hiding in his car. I said I needed the restroom just to sneak back. I
didn’t expect… it was you!”
Right as she shouted that, Zachary must’ve sensed something was off and walked over. His expression darkened-it looked like Liora was about to get scolded hard.
But I wasn’t interested in their family drama. I just told him, “You handle it.” Then, I left without turning around.

I had no idea what Zachary ended up telling her. Anyway, I didn’t see her for the next three days, which honestly made my life easier. Her name popped up again in the college’s official announcement.
Liora was punished. For hiring someone to sit her exam and erase the footage, she lost her diploma and had to repeat a year. The news spread fast.
It seemed that even with Zachary stepping in, it didn’t help her.
Soon enough, word got out that he was the one who pushed for the punishment.
The higher-ups had planned to cover it up to protect the college’s reputation, but Zachary personally led a team to recover the deleted

surveillance.
Once the video came back, it was obvious that the girl in the exam room wasn’t Liora-just someone who looked like her. The lie unraveled, so the truth couldn’t be ignored.
Right after the announcement, I got called to the office. I stepped inside, and the instructors, who’d ignored me before, were now smiling fawningly.
“Rosalyn, we misjudged you.”
“Thanks to your report, we’ve fixed a toxic problem in the college.”
“You’ve been nominated for outstanding graduate honors!”
What was that about?
When I noticed Zachary standing in the corner, it all made sense. Those instructors weren’t apologizing to me. They were just trying to suck up to him.
Zachary nudged Liora. “Apologize to her.”
She looked at me unwillingly. “Rosalyn, I’m so- No! This is so unfair!”
She suddenly yelled, clearly trying to draw in every student walking by to witness the scene.
“I also have something to say! Rosalyn has been after my uncle with
bad intentions!

“I saw her getting out of his car myself!”
Zachary had hardly lived at home since he was grown, so he didn’t know much about the real Liora. All he heard came from his brother and sister-in-law, who spoiled her endlessly.
“What nonsense are you talking about?!” His face darkened.
“Uncle Zachary, I’m not blaming you! Rosalyn must’ve done something to fool you! Otherwise, why would you take her side instead of mine? We’re family!”
Liora said confidently, “Just look at her. She dresses like trash, and her family is poor. If I saw someone like her begging on the sidewalk, I wouldn’t give her a second glance. And now she’s trying to sleep her way into our family-”
Smack!
A sharp slap interrupted her words.
The office went dead quiet, and even the crowd outside the office fell silent.
Nobody could believe Zachary slapped Liora. He didn’t even hold back in public. Her cheek soon became red.
“How did our family raise a waste like you?” Zachary said.
He didn’t raise his voice, but the chill in his tone made everyone freeze.
Liora finally realized that her uncle, who was often on business trips,

wasn’t easy to fool.
No wonder her parents had snapped at her when she begged for help. “Do whatever your uncle says,” they warned. “If he gets upset, we’re finished.”
Liora didn’t get it back then, but now it finally clicked. Everything in their family hinged on Zachary’s attitude-not age, not status, just power and capability.
Fear took over. She started crying and dropped to her knees in front of me. “I’m sorry, Rosalyn. I messed up. Please, talk to my uncle for me…..”
But I had no plans to let her off easy.
Without even glancing her way, I said, “If that’s all, I’m heading out.”
That was when Zachary suddenly turned toward me.
“You’re not gonna hear me out?” His voice had softened a little.
Then, he looked at Liora and said seriously, “I was the one who kept bothering Rosalyn. I want to be with her. She didn’t do anything
wrong.”
