Chapter 7
Unlike her, Charlotte had zero appeal–she was always so unresponsive in bed, lying there like a corpse. No man would be attracted by that.

At the parking lot.
A bodyguard, dressed in a black suit, opened the Maybach door for Charlotte and said with respect, “Ms. Lindsey, please.”
Once inside the car, Charlotte could no longer keep up the tough act.
She leaned against the seat wearily, her body aching.
Gregory had been drugged last night, and she had ended up the one suffering
It was the first time she had realized men could be this horrifying.
In her past life, she had only slept with Timothy.

She had always assumed all men were as quick and small–sized as him.
But apparently, she was wrong. Her experience last night was such an
eye–opener.
“Where would you like to go, Ms. Lindsey?”
“Home,” she said concisely, feeling exhausted.
All she wanted was to go home and get some sleep. Everything else could wait.

“Sure, Ms. Lindsey.”
The driver started the car and headed toward the Lindsey’s manor.
An hour later, the car arrived at the Lindsey’s manor.
Charlotte went straight upstairs to her room.
She collapsed onto the bed and immediately sank into sleep.
At 6:00 p.m., she finally woke up.
Kathy and Gordon Lindsey, Charlotte’s father, had come back from work.
They were in the dining room downstairs, waiting for her to join them for dinner.
She changed into her pajamas and went downstairs.
“Lottie, time to eat. I made crab frittata–your favorite,” Kathy smiled.
Kathy and Gordon were right here in front of her.
As she looked at them, a wave of bitterness washed over her. Her nose twitched as she held back her tears and strode forward to hug them. “Dad, Mom, I miss you so much.”
Both were startled. “Lottie? What’s wrong?”
“Nothing. I’m just so happy to see you.” With tears in her eyes, she hugged Kathy and then Gordon tightly.
From now on, she’d protect them well.
And she swore she’d be a good girl, listening to them and cherishing every moment with them.

Gordon was a high–ranking official of the Freyburn Department of Finance.
And Kathy was the daughter of Wolfhelm’s former richest man.
The Lindsey family was top–tier in Freyburn with both money and fame, and Charlotte was undoubtedly the most famous socialite in town.
But in her past life, she had ruined it all by herself.
This time, she wouldn’t pester Gordon to use his connections to pave way for Timothy.

And of course, she wouldn’t force Kathy to take out half of her money for Timothy’s business investment and expansions.
Without the Lindsey family’s support, would Timothy still manage to become one of Freyburn’s richest men? She couldn’t wait to witness the result.
Gordon smiled kindly, “Lottie, you’re getting married. Maybe it’s time to stop acting like a child.”
Hearing this, Charlotte suddenly looked up. “Dad, Mom, I don’t wanna marry Timothy anymore.”
Kathy and Gordon were shocked. “Why?”
“I don’t love him anymore, and I want nothing to do with him.”
Gordon subconsciously adjusted his glasses. “Lottie, do you mean it?”
She nodded firmly. “Yes. Dad, I wanna call off the engagement. I wouldn’t marry him even if he were the last man on Earth.”
Still stunned, Kathy felt her forehead. “You’re not having a fever. What’s

going on? You got engaged yesterday, and today, you suddenly want to break up with him?
“Lottie, you love him, don’t you?”
Holding back her tears, Charlotte said decisively, “Not anymore. I’m serious about breaking up with him.”
Seeing how serious she was, Gordon let out a heavy breath and confirmed again, “Lottie, you aren’t joking, right?”
“No, I’m not, Dad. Let’s return the engagement gifts to the Bradford family tomorrow and tell everyone about the broken engagement,” Charlotte said.
Gordon was instantly thrilled. “Finally, Lottie. I’m so relieved you’ve come around. I told you I don’t trust Timothy–he’s so unreliable. But you just wouldn’t listen.
“Lottie, you’ve made the right choice.
Kathy, however, was a bit concerned. She asked worriedly, “Lottie, you’re not saying this out of spite, right? Did you and Timo have a fight? What if you regret this in a few days?”
