Chapter 14
“You have a day to return everything, or I’ll get a lawyer next week. Then I’ll see you in court,” she said, her tone flat.
“Good for you, Charlotte. I didn’t know how greedy you are until today. Don’t worry. I’ll give all your fucking things back!” Utterly furious and embarrassed, Timothy yanked off the watch and shoved it into Charlotte’s hand.
Then he stormed off.
Thanks to his memories of his past life, he knew the most lucrative industry in the future.

Without the Lindsey family, he could still make a name for himself.
Evelin panicked. She hastily stepped forward and said, “Lottie…”
But Gordon interrupted her coldly, adjusting his glasses, “Mrs. Bradford, perhaps it’s best to call off the engagement. If Lottie and Timothy are meant to be, destiny will bring them back in the future. If not, isn’t it wiser to part ways now?”
After saying this, he looked at Kieran. “Am I right, Sir Bradford?”
Kieran nodded. “Yes. I agree.
“Our families have been close for generations. What a waste it would be if this came between our friendship.”
Kieran’s words disheartened Evelin immediately, but she didn’t dare to say anything.

She had begged him days ago for a long time before he finally agreed to mediate with the Lindsey family.
To her disappointment, he didn’t care about the engagement at all. All he said was just some token pleasantries, carefully skirting any real meaning.
Sure enough, he didn’t give a damn about Timothy, who wasn’t his biological grandson.
She couldn’t help but glare at Kieran, her gaze filled with resentment and
hatred.
Kieran didn’t notice her glare. He continued, “Rest assured, Gordon. We’ll return all your gifts promptly.”
Then he turned to Evelin, putting on a long face. “Evelin, you heard what I said. Give them the gifts back tomorrow. We should handle this with dignity.”
Though seething with rage, Evelin didn’t dare to disobey him. She nodded and said obediently, “Alright, Kieran.”
After saying this, she glanced at Jerome helplessly.
It was such a shame that he was mildly intellectually challenged.
Forget about talking sense to him–he was totally useless.

After lunch, Gordon stood up. “Sir Bradford, we should be going now.”
Kieran said with a smile, “No rush, Gordon. It’s been a long time since I last saw you. Since you’re here today, how about we play chess for a bit?”
“A rain check, maybe. I have a meeting to attend later,” Gordon smiled,

too.
“Alright then.” Kieran didn’t press on.
Charlotte sat in her white Cayenne. “Dad, Mom, I gotta go to school this afternoon. Drive safe.”
Kathy nodded and instructed worriedly, “You too, Lottie.”
“Don’t worry, Mom,” Charlotte smiled, waving her hand.
Then she was about to drive away.
Just then, Gregory walked over, pulled open the passenger door, and sat in. “I need to run some errands downtown. Since we’re going the same way, why don’t you give me a lift?”
Charlotte was stunned, feeling the atmosphere in the car freezing.
She faltered, “B–But you do have a driver, right?”
“You’re giving me a lift. Drive.”
His commanding presence easily intimidated her.

Swallowing hard, she could only start the car and drive away in silence.
As the car glided smoothly down the road, Gregory sat still, his chiseled, sharp features betraying no emotion.
Downtown was just minutes away.
He suddenly asked, “Tell me. What are you up to?”
Caught off guard, Charlotte instinctively hit the brakes.
She pulled over.

Gregory turned to stare into her eyes, his sharp eyes searching for any sign of a hidden agenda.
She had never reached out to him ever since that night.
It didn’t make any sense at all because she loved Timothy so much.
She remained silent.
Sensing this, he pressed on, his voice cold and stern. “What exactly do you want?“!
Snapping out of it, she said truthfully, still looking a bit dazed, “Nothing.”
“Yeah, right,” he scoffed disdainfully.
“Name your price.”
Hearing this, she looked at him. “What do you mean?”
He sneered, “What do you think? After that night, you obviously want compensation
“I have no interest in being pestered by women. Nor do I want trouble. Tell me what you want, and we’ll settle this once and for all.”
