Chapter3
Kamron said, “Don’t deny it. I just met her, and she thought I was you.”
“Tell me what happened when you met,” Edwin interrupted Kamron’s chatter, his voice deep and steady.
Kamron didn’t waste any time and quickly filled Edwin in on what had just happened.
Of course, he only told the second half and left out his earlier flirting. If Edwin knew he’d been hitting on Mariana, just thinking about it sent shivers down his spine.
After listening, Edwin was silent for a few minutes. “Next, do as I say.”

Mariana left the airport, hailed a cab, and headed straight for the hospital.
The Mueller family had originally made their fortune in the medical industry. Although they had declined since her father passed away, they were still big shots in the field.
She went directly to the most trustworthy hospital and found an orthopedic expert to check on her.
The doctor said her leg injury wasn’t serious. It just got worse because of the wrong medicine. If she resumed normal medication and took good care, she could fully recover.
Mariana’s eyes turned cold. Every time she saw a doctor before, Ralph
was with her. It was clear he greased the wheels in advance. Her beloved fiance was really ruthless.
After getting her medicine, she went to the treatment room for massage and rehab.
Mariana looked at the clock on the wall. Ralph thought she was still in Ironham. So, she went through the hospitalization procedures and stayed in the hospital.

The next evening, after Mariana finished her rehab and left the hospital, she headed straight to Moonstone Hotel by car. That was where Ralph had insisted on throwing her a bachelor party.
She used to think he cared about her. But now she realized that when
people act weird, there was usually a hidden motive. This had to be part of their plan to harm her.
She needed to plan carefully.
As soon as she walked into the banquet hall, she saw Ralph and Sandra standing together, chatting happily.
When Ralph saw her, he completely ignored the look of suspicion in her eyes and blurted out, “Marie, I was swamped yesterday and didn’t get a chance to ask. Since you didn’t meet Kamron’s agent, did you

help Sandra with anything? Can the Montoya Group secretly back her to get into the Global Gala for Socialites?”
Mariana’s eyes darkened. She thought, “How stupid was I before? Were they really so blatant right under my nose?”
She steeled herself and said, “Of course.”

“That’s great!” Ralph beamed. “I knew it would work! Now hurry up and get Sandra’s publicity ready.”
Mariana thought, “Is he so focused on Sandra that he’s forgotten it’s our engagement day tomorrow?”
Seeing Mariana standing still, Sandra played coy. “Thank you, Mariana. You guys chat. I won’t bother you.”
After Sandra left, Mariana deliberately turned to block Ralph’s view and stared at him with a smile.
“Marie, you look so stunning tonight.” Ralph finally took a good look
at her.
Mariana nodded with a smile and casually picked up the champagne beside her. “Cheers.”
She clinked her glass against Ralph’s, the clear sound making his heart skip a beat.
Mariana wore a black, deep–V dress that clung to her body, showing off her elegant figure perfectly. Her eyes sparkled differently, like she was a whole new person.
Ralph smiled and raised his glass in response, his hand unconsciously wrapping around her slender waist.
Mariana’s eyes narrowed. Suppressing the nausea in her heart, she put her arm around his neck. Her slender hand smoothly slipped into his pocket and dropped a bug inside.
They didn’t chat long when Ralph’s phone kept ringing. He glanced at it awkwardly, hit the hang–up button, and said, “It’s a bachelor party tonight. I won’t bug you. Have fun on your own.”

Seeing Ralph in a hurry to leave, Mariana knew he was going to find Sandra.
She thought, “Don’t blame me for being ruthless. With the sweetest smile, I’m going to do the most ruthless things!”
