“Oh! Isn’t she Mariana, whose fiance got taken by Sandra? Is she really that dumb, or is she just pretending? Here she is, running around for Sandra!”
Two starlets behind were gossiping. “I heard the Mueller family is pretty much done for. She tried to hook up with Mr. McKinney and got rejected. I don’t think she’s dumb. She has lost it!”
Suddenly, everyone around started making fun of Mariana. Her eyes were cold and calm. Before she could say anything, someone stood up for her.
“How can you talk like that? Mariana is my cousin! When you say that about her, it’s like you’re saying it about me!”
Sandra, looking innocent and delicate, pushed through the crowd, took Mariana’s arm, and whispered into her ear, “I knew you wouldn’t be mad at me. It was just a misunderstanding last night. Ralph and I didn’t do anything.”
Mariana turned to look at the fake innocence in Sandra’s eyes and gave a sarcastic smile.
“Really?”
Sandra’s eyes flickered. “Of course! With all these people around, I’ll tell you everything when we get back. But I knew you’d be on my side. This morning, you even got me a deal with a big international brand.”
Mariana’s eyes glinted. She had gotten way more than just one deal for Sandra in the past few days.

Sandra, clueless about what was going on, thought Mariana was being naive and continued, “Today’s selection means a lot to me. With you here to back me up, I feel much more at ease.”
“Who said I’m here to help you?”
Mariana shook off Sandra’s hand and gave her a cold look.
Sandra’s eyes widened in shock. If Mariana wasn’t here to help her, then what was she doing here?
Was she here for the selection with her limp?
Then, the elevator doors opened again, and out stepped a natural–born star with a trendy look.
Kamron had just dyed his short hair a chestnut color, and his fair face looked perfect, full of youthful energy.
All the girls got excited. A few stars, who were basically nobodies, started to push Sandra. “Sandra, don’t you know Kamron?”
“Yeah, we’re about to work together on a drama.”
“Go say hi and introduce us, will you? If you could get a little scoop on the selection later, that’d be awesome.”
Sandra, feeling proud from being pushed on, took a quick breath, fixed her bangs, and walked up with a big smile. “Kamron, when are you free next time? Last time, our contract.”
Kamron frowned, glanced at Sandra who was in his way, and cut her off, “Do I know you?”

A few people couldn’t hold back their giggles.
Sandra’s face darkened. Kamron walked right up to Mariana and said, “I knew you’d show up.”
Mariana was pretty and had an amazing vibe. She also had a strong, take- charge thing going on. No wonder she got Edwin, who had always been hard to deal with.

It wasn’t a big deal, though. The Montoya family knew a famous doctor of traditional medicine. When Edwin got really hurt and couldn’t move, doctors everywhere said there was nothing they could do, but the famous doctor fixed him. It’d be easy for him to treat Mariana.
Seeing Mariana and Kamron chatting like old friends, Sandra clenched her fists so hard that her fingernails dug into her palms.
She thought, “How could Mariana know Kamron? She must have secretly talked to Kamron behind the company’s back, even hiding it from Ralph!”
“Here’s your number card.”
Kamron handed Mariana a card, and Mariana took it.
Sandra was totally shocked.
Mariana was actually here for the selection!
