Chapter 20
Chloe’s other friends all wore the same uneasy expression. They were all glad they hadn’t rushed in like Kaitlyn did. Otherwise, they would’ve ended up in the same mess.
They’d figured Olivia wasn’t favored by Dylan and wouldn’t dare fight back even if she was bullied. They didn’t expect her to be this bold–going straight to Morgan to complain and even using him to threaten Dylan.
They thought, Isn’t she afraid that once Morgan passes away, Dylan will come after her with a vengeance?‘
But that was a problem for the future. Right now, Olivia was untouchable. She had the power to crush anyone who messed with her.
One of Chloe’s friends said, “Hey, Chloe, I just remembered I’ve got something really urgent back home I need to deal with. I’ll take a red–eye tonight, so I won’t be staying. You and Mr. Wilson have fun.”
Another chimed in, “I got a call this morning–my grandma’s sick. I need to fly back too and check on her.”
And a third added, “My family’s been urging me to come home too. Next time we hang out, I’ll make it up to you.”
They each tossed out a random excuse and left in a hurry, not forgetting to drag Kaitlyn out with them on the Chloe stood there shaking with rage, but all she could do was watch them walk off.

Once they were gone, she looked back at Olivia, who was grinning as she tore open the envelope and pulled out the check.
That sight made Chloe even more furious. She burst into tears and took off running.
Dylan rushed to follow. “Chloe, slow down. Watch your step.”
The words had barely left his mouth when Chloe face–planted onto the ground.
Dylan hurried to lift her up, his voice full of concern. “Are you hurt? Should we go to the hospital?”
Chloe bit her lip without responding, looking aggrieved. She turned to Olivia, who was grinning ear to ear, and snapped, “What are you smiling at? Do you think it’s funny that I fell?”
Olivia said, “Just airing out my teeth. They get stuffy.”
Tears welled up in Chloe’s eyes as she clenched her fists. She made a silent vow in her heart as she thought, ‘Once Morgan dies, I’ll make Olivia wish she were dead. I’ll drag the entire Kaur family down with her.
‘I’ll make her pay back for everything I endured today. She won’t stay smug for long.
Chloe took a deep breath, forced down her anger, and then turned to Dylan with wounded eyes. “Baby, I don’t want to see her anymore. Please don’t let her follow us. I just want to curl up in your arms and forget today ever happened.”
Dylan nodded. “Okay. Whatever you want.”
He shot Olivia a cold look. Get out of here. Don’t stay and make Chloe even more upset.”
Olivia didn’t argue. She turned and walked away without any complaint.
She found a nearby café, sat down, and followed the instructions in the envelope to transfer the five million dollars to her bank account. Since it was an international transaction, it took a little time.
When she finally got the text notification confirming the deposit, she was able to believe it this wasn’t a prank or a dream. She had actually won five million dollars, completely out of the blue.
She then contacted the manager of the luxury boutique and asked if she could cash out a few of the items instead of picking them up. She didn’t need more clothes. What she needed was money.
Although Dylan didn’t actually love her, he still had Ivan arrange for her to receive new season releases of clothes, shoes, and handbags from all the major brands every quarter, just to keep up the illusion of a loving marriage for Morgan’s sake.
Olivia sent the manager a message, laying out her idea.
The store manager quickly replied: [Of course. I’ll start calculating the total now. Just send me your bank info, and once I’m done, I’ll transfer the money right away.]
Olivia: [I haven’t even started picking anything yet.]
Manager: [It’s fine. I’ll just count up everything in the store.]

Olivia couldn’t help blurting out, “What?”
She thought, ‘What kind of windfall did this store hit to be throwing promotions like this? This is basically giving me the entire store.
She was shocked all over again.
Meanwhile, the store manager calculated the total and immediately submitted the amount and Olivia’s bank details to the regional director, who then contacted Noel. Noel personally reported it to Julian.
Julian glanced at the figure–more than three million dollars–and directly transferred fifteen million.
Noel couldn’t help asking, “My lord, who exactly is that lady to you? Why are you treating her so differently?”

Julian’s lips curved into a smile. “Ever heard of the phrase ‘sugar baby‘?”
Noel broke into a grin. “You’re already twenty–seven. It’s about time you started seeing women. Otherwise, the marshal will keep doubting your
orientation.
“He’s asked me more than once if you and I are secretly dating, said that must be why you never show interest in women. He even warned me to keep my distance so I wouldn’t mess up your chances at continuing the bloodline.
“Even though you’re just keeping a woman for now, it’s a good first step. You can always find some suitable heiress to marry later.”
Julian said, “She’s not the sugar baby. I am”
“What?” Noel looked completely stunned. “That’s flipping the whole damn script. With your status, even a foreign president doesn’t qualify to keep you. Wait a second–if you’re the one being kept, why are you the one giving her money?”
Julian raised an eyebrow at him. “Your Gravellian’s improved. You’re even throwing around idioms now.”
Noel scratched the back of his head, looking embarrassed. “My lord, don’t make fun of me. I’ve been learning Gravellian ever since I started working under you. But there just aren’t enough people around me who speak it, so I’m still pretty slow with it.”

Julian shifted the topic back. She’s happy when she gets money. So I gave her some.”
Noel’s face lit up. “My lord, I’d be happy if I got money too.”
Julian said with a half–smile, “There’s a saying in Gravellia—‘Don’t count your chickens before they hatch. I’d hate for you to get your hopes up for nothing, so maybe don’t get too happy.”
Noel was instantly at a loss for words. Then he asked, “But my lord, I’m still really curious. What’s so special about her that you would agree to be kept by her?
“You’ve had women throwing themselves at you all these years, and you never gave a single one the time of day.”
Julian smirked with a flicker of amusement in his deep–set eyes, “Remember that girl on Skull Island fifteen years ago?”
Noel answered without hesitation, “I could never forget about her. She left us on that island, gave us a pile of shit, and told us to take turns eating it in a loop.
To this day I still have nightmares about the way she looked when she said it. She was dead serious. She meant for us to eat it. *Sure, she saved our lives back then, but the second she said that, whatever gratitude I felt pretty much vanished.”
