“Where’s her phone? We need to call her family and get her husband here ASAP. We’ll need his signature on
The sound of unanswered calls echoed through the corridor. A single tear slipped down my cheek.
Of course Beckett wasn’t picking up. He was probably too busy playing the loving partner to his darling Delaney. What did it matter to him if I–or our baby–lived or died?!

Meanwhile, Delaney–the mistress–with her tiny burn got the whole hospital moving.

“My baby… where’s my baby?!“}
Panic surged as I ripped the IV from my arm and tried to climb out of bed, ignoring the sharp pain.
Just then, the nurse walked in, cradling something in her arms. She placed a tiny bundle in mine. And in that moment, as I held my child close to my chest, I finally at ease.”
Two weeks later, I stood at the airport holding my baby. All the documents were finalized. As I glanced up at the giant screen displaying the latest gossip about Beckett pampering his lover–I didn’t hesitate.@
I clutched my baby tighter… and boarded the plane.
