Whit the words out, Beckett collapsed to his knees, groveling at my parents‘ feet.”
“Enough,” my father cut him off, his voice cold and absolute. He raised his hand and waved him away like filth. “I don’t want to hear another damn word from you. I’ve held back from crushing Shaw Group out of respect for our past relationship, but if you keep pushing your luck…”
He leaned forward, his voice dropping lower, now laced with threat. “Let me remind you, this isn’t your home turf anymore. This is my ground. And if you don’t walk away now, you might not walk away at all.”
His stare was full of fury. My mom’s too. She looked at Beckett like he was filth. “If I had known you were this much of a monster,” she hissed, “we would’ve left you to burn in that fire. Evelyn never should’ve risked her life to save yours.”>
Beckett’s head shot up in shock, eyes wide with disbelief. He had once asked investigators to look into the identity of the person who saved him during that fire, but before they could uncover the full truth, they had already found me. Without a second thought, he had rushed overseas to chase me down.
Somewhere deep inside, he might’ve suspected it. But hearing my mother confirm it?

Beckett let out a bitter, broken laugh. He’d destroyed the one person who loved him, nearly killed the mother of his child, all for a woman who never gave a damn about him.
As the weight of everything finally came crashing down, Beckett collapsed onto the cold hospital floor, utterly broken.
My mother flinched slightly, surprised by how fast her words had stripped the life out of him. But a second later, her lips curled in grim satisfaction.
“Get him out of here,” she barked at the bodyguards. “Evelyn won’t want to see that man when she wakes up. If he resists–break his damn legs.”
In the next instant, Beckett was dragged out like a piece of discarded trash.
By the time my surgery was over and a success, Beckett had already been hauled back to his home country by people from his family. My recovery took time. But I finally had the strength to hold my baby again and as I looked into those big, round eyes, Beckett crossed my mind–just for a second.}

Every last cent of Beckett’s wealth was seized to cover his debts.
When the company finally declared bankruptcy, Delaney and her lover see their change. Beckett had once taken brutal revenge on them- revenge that left them both permanently injured. The man and Delaney were now unable to have children, but that was the least of it. They were incontinent, partially paralyzed and even loss basic bodily functions.
Now that Beckett had nothing left to protect him, they dragged him into court, hoping to squeeze some settlement money out of him.
But Best was already broke–worse than broke, really. He was buried in debt. Still, the court ruled against him. Beckett Shaw was
sentenced to twenty years behind bars. And Delaney and her man got nothing.
I read through the entire article carefully and delete it, erasing every last trace of Beckett from my life. I knew, from this moment on, he no longer had anything to do with me.
As for Jordan… well, I had a child now. And with that, my priorities had shifted.
From here on out, my only focus would be Carrington Corporation–growing it, expanding it, turning it into an empire worthy of my son. Marriage? That was the last thing on my mind.
