He stepped between us, brows furrowed in anger, glaring at Beckett with an expression that could kill.%
“That’s enough!” Jordan barked. “Didn’t you hear Evelyn say she doesn’t want to forgive you? She’s having surgery tomorrow and you’re here stressing her out? You’re a psycho!“?
His voice echoed through the quiet hallway like a slap. Honestly, if he could’ve physically dragged Beckett back across the ocean, I’m pretty sure he would’ve done it.”
Beckett froze for a moment, stunned by Jordan’s sudden appearance. But that shock quickly twisted into rage.
“Who the hell are you?” he snapped, eyes narrowing. “I’m talking to my wife. So take your nosy ass off somewhere else.“%
I stepped forward, jaw clenched. “Ex–wife, Beckett. We’ve been divorced for a month. I’m not your wife anymore.”
His face dropped. That wounded look flashed in his eyes, but it disappeared just as quickly–replaced by something darker, more hostile -as he turned back to Jordan.!
Jordan dido.
flinch. Instead, he gave Beckett a cool, deliberate smile. “I’m Evelyn’s fiancé. Once she’s recovered from her surgery, we’re
getting married.”
He took a small step forward, adding, “You’re just the ex–husband, Beckett. So maybe take the hint and stop hanging around where you’re not wanted. And if you’re wondering, yeah–Evelyn told me everything you did. I suggest you leave before I call security and have you thrown out.”
His words were biting, deliberate. He wanted Beckett to back off.”
And I didn’t stop him. In fact, I welcomed it.
Beckett clenched his fists so tightly that his nails cut into his palms, drawing blood.

“We’ve only been apart for a month,” he growled. “She can’t be your fiancée. Besides, we have a child together!”
He said it like he was trying to convince himself, but his glare stayed locked on Jordan–cold and violent. If I hadn’t been standing between them, I was pretty sure they’d already be trading punches.
Jordan didn’t even blink. His lips curled in a cruel smile. “Unlike you, I don’t throw away the good things in my life. You had a treasure and you let it get dirty and broken in your hands.”
“I don’t care if Evelyn has a child. I’ll love that baby like he’s my own. Evelyn’s mine now. You’re out of the picture, Beckett. Accept it.“” That did it.
Beckett lunged forward and tackled Jordan and within seconds, they were locked in a full–on brawl.%
I panicked, unable to break them apart and had no choice but to call security.
By the time they were finally separated, Jordan had taken a hit to the face. I felt a twinge of guilt as I dabbed medicine gently onto the cut above his cheekbone.”
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Beckett trembling. His voice came out hoarse and broken. “Evelyn…why won’t you even look at me? I’m hurt worse than he is.“!
I finally turned to him.
Beckett looked wrecked–hair messed up, blood on his mouth, eyes red, playing the victim. But I wasn’t falling for it anymore.”
But he had no one to blame but himself. He was the one who had thrown the first punch.
“You think I care?” I snapped. “After everything you did, you have no right to expect anything from me. You’re nothing to me now. Honestly, if you got beat to death, I wouldn’t even shed a tear.”
I stood up, my voice icy and unwavering. “Jordan is my fiancé now. And what you just did to him? I’m not letting that slide.“%

look at Beckett again. I simply turned to the guards. “Get him out of here.”
As they dragged Beckett away, he kept shouting my name, over and over. But I never looked back.!!
