Chapter 22%
Beckett slapped her again, harder this time. Her head snapped to the side.
“Still not talking? Guess I haven’t hit hard enough,” he said coldly.
“Don’t worry, Delaney. Everything you did to Evelyn, I’ll make sure you pay for it tenfold. And it’ll start with you baby.”
He cast a chilling glance her way, talking to his men, “If this bitch still doesn’t open her mouth, all of you can have her. Do whatever the hell you want with her. Break her if you have to. I don’t care. We can clean up the mess later.”
The moment those words left his mouth, the guards‘ expressions shifted. Eyes lit up.
Delaney might have looked like a wreck now, but the fact that she once had Beckett wrapped around her finger said plenty. Good looks. A tight figure. Easy pickings.
They didn’t need to be told twice. Several of them stepped forward with hands outstretched./
Delaney’s eyes widened in panic. She kicked and thrashed, but she couldn’t fight off the wall of muscle closing in. Her arms and legs were pinned in seconds.
She stared at Beckett in disbelief, her whole body trembling.
“You can’t do this! Don’t you touch me, you lowlife animals!” she shrieked. “I’ll talk! I’ll talk! Just tell them to stop.”
Beckett gave her a cold look, then muttered, “Whore.”
age embled, but she didn’t hold back anymore.
“Her last name was Carrington,” she spat. “She got torn up pretty bad saving you. After they took you to the ER, she was being treated in the room next to you. Covered in burns and cuts.“W
“I was greedy,” she drew in a shaky breath, her voice rising. “You asked if it was me who pulled you out and I just nodded. You were the one who believed me–it wasn’t my fault.“W
Even now, Delaney was still trying to put
blame on someone else. But unfortunately for her, Beckett wasn’t buying it anymore.
Beckett waved over his assistant and told him to find out who had been staying in the hospital room next to his back then.”
As long as the name and age matched, that person had to be the one who saved his life.”
Even though he believed it, hearing that familiar last name unsettled him.
Could it really be just a coincidence that his savior shared Evelyn’s last name?}
Then it hit him–Every time he touched her, every time they made love, she never let him see her back. She’d go to such lengths to cover it up, even putting makeup on before letting him touch her.
What if it had been her all along?
He didn’t know if she would ever be able to forgive him. And he wasn’t sure he deserved it.
The pain in his chest sharpened like a blade, twisting with every heartbeat. His gaze locked on Delaney, now trembling in front of him.
“She confessed. That’s all I needed,” he said coldly. “You can drag her out now. Like I said–do whatever you want with her.”
