Jax rolled his eyes, about to leave.
Liam grabbed him, a hint of worry in his heart. “What happened to her?”
Jax didn’t want to waste words. “She disappeared after PE, and she wasn’t feeling well!”
Then he smacked his head, cursing himself for being stupid.
It was my turn to organize the equipment today.
He rushed to the equipment room, and Liam, still worried, hurried to follow h
him.
Sure enough, the equipment room door was locked from the outside with a padlock.
Jax banged on the door, shouting. “Elara! Elara, are you in there?!”
But there was no sound from inside.
I had already passed out from the pain.
Jax became even more certain it was the girl. He rushed to the security office, grabbed a bolt cutter, and severed the chain.

curled up in a corner.
Her face was deathly pale, her forehead covered in cold sweat, and even her faint stubble seemed weaker,
Liam, who had followed him in, was startled.
The two of them quickly rushed her to the hospital emergency room.
They waited outside, anxious.
Half an hour later, the doctor pushed open the door and asked, “Is anyone here a family member of the patient inside?”
In the hospital, Liam couldn’t care less about appearances. He quickly said, “I’m her brother!”
The doctor’s gaze was grim as he stared at the young man.
“The patient is now in late–stage stomach cancer. There’s basically no chance of recovery.”
“How could you be her family? The young girl is so young, and she has late–stage stomach cancer. Where are her parents?”
Boom.
Jax felt a chill run through his body. He grabbed the doctor’s collar

Jax felt a chill run through his body. He grabbed the doctor’s collar and roared.
“How is
is that possible? Who are you trying to fool?!”
She was still mid–stage just a while ago!
Liam staggered back two steps, shaking his head repeatedly.
His eyes widened, then a sudden realization hit him. “I know!”
“Did Elara tell you to say that? To gain sympathy, right? She’s done this kind of thing plenty of times. Get out of my way, I want to see how long she’s going to keep up this act!”
With that, he shoved the doctor aside and rushed to open the door.
The girl lay quietly on the hospital bed, wearing an oxygen mask, her face deathly pale.
Liam’s legs went weak, his mind a blank.
Impossible… Impossible…
Jax punched Liam, sending him to the ground. He yanked him up by his collar, veins bulging in his arm.
“What kind of brother are you?! Why didn’t you let her get treatment?!”
“You walk around in fancy clothes, do you even know she secretly came to the hospital by herself to buy painkillers?!”
“Do you even know she stopped eating and was just waiting to die alone?!
Liam’s breathing hitched, his eyes staring blankly at the ceiling.
It seemed that at this moment, the bond of blood was exceptionally strong.
The motionless person lying there was his biological sister….
His biological sister was dying… and he hadn’t even had a chance to love or
pamper her.
He hadn’t even properly responded to her calling him “brother” since she came home.
He started to recall what it was like when his sister used to call him Third Brother”
Soitly? Timidly? Too afraid to look up at him.
And how had he reacted?
He seemed to loathe it, loathe her timid, petty demeanor, how she couldn’t compare to Jessica
And now?
Would he ever hear it again?
