Day Before the Wedding My Husband Proposes to His Secretary Ch 6
Chapter 6
The number of times he called me today exceeded the total for our entire five years together.

My finger slid across the screen, my heart full of mockery.

I ignored his incoming call notification.

After James’ messages, the second most were from the wedding planner I had been coordinating with.

Unable to find me at the wedding venue, their messages grew increasingly frantic.

There was a two-hour gap in the middle of the chat history.

Finally, they sent me one last message.

Because I didn’t show up, the wedding planner’s emergency solution was to have Laila help out by pretending to be the bride in my place.

To avoid the groom being too embarrassed and unable to continue the ceremony.

I stared expressionlessly at the words on the screen and lightly tapped out a reply.

[Thank you for your trouble. Please ask Laila for the tip.]

Then I exited the conversation.

When I opened the chat with my lawyer, he said the lawsuit documents had already been delivered to the wedding venue by a courier.

But after receiving the legal notice,Laila had publicly beaten up the delivery guy.

His face was bruised, and the lawyer had to accompany him to the hospital to pay the fees.

Seeing this, a flash of surprise passed through my eyes.

I hadn’t expected Laila, who appeared so gentle on the surface and acted weak and helpless in front of James,

To be capable of physically attacking the courier at the wedding venue.

Now it seems all her previous behavior was likely a calculated act.

Only today, angered by me, she lost control of her emotions and tore off her own mask.

I asked the lawyer for the amount of the medical fees and transferred twice that to him.

Then I walked outside to hail a taxi to the apartment arranged by the overseas branch.

But just as I had loaded my luggage into the trunk and sat down in the car, James called.

I didn’t have time to block him, so I had to answer.

The next second, his furious shouting exploded in my ear:

“Rachel, where the hell are you? Send me your address right now! I’m coming to find you!”

“What the hell do you mean by this? Why are you suing Laila? Have you lost your damn mind? She’s just my secretary! You better give me an explanation right now!”

“Do you know how long everyone at the wedding waited for you? You almost made me the laughingstock of the entire event! The wedding planner said they’d never encountered a situation like this in decades of business!”

“You’ve gone too far today! I’m utterly disappointed in you! Go withdraw the lawsuit right now!”

Caught off guard by his barrage of accusations, I couldn’t help but laugh.

When I spoke, my voice was completely devoid of warmth.

“Give you my address? I think you’re the one who’s lost it. We’ve already broken up, can’t you read? Get it through your head – who are you to me now? What right do you have to question me?”

“Do I need to tell you why I’m suing Laila? Proposing to your secretary, how romantic. Especially using your girlfriend’s house to do it. Tell me, how should I handle this?”

“Go apologize to her, then hand over my house to you two with both hands, wishing you a lifetime of happiness? James, do I look like a brain-dead idiot to you? Just letting you treat me like a fool? Did everyone wait a long time at the wedding? I heard the wedding was full of surprises?”
