I visited Dominic in prison. He wasn’t doing well. Sex offenders were the most despised inmates in prison. He asked me to find a way to get him transferred to a different cellblock. I agreed, and he sent me off with a look of desperate hope. Perhaps ten years from now, on a day when I felt particularly good, I might help him.
Julian was being held in detention. I recounted to him how Chloe had forged the DNA results. He remained silent for a long time.
“Blair, your brother only has you to trust now. Find a way to transfer the Sterling family assets. As long as the family name survives, we can rebuild our empire.”
He instructed his lawyer to transfer all remaining usable assets of Sterling Group into my name. Conveniently, I also requested guardianship over Sebastian in the mental health facility. Before leaving, I smiled at Julian. “Brother, there’s only one thing I never truly listened to you about in this life. Do you know what it is? You always told me to spend less time on the computer, and I always obediently agreed. But in reality, I secretly spent a lot of time online and even learned quite a few skills.”
I chose a sunny day to visit Sebastian. After a period of alcohol withdrawal, his mental state had improved significantly. The moment he saw me, he frantically grabbed my hand. “Blair, I heard Julian and the others are in trouble. Get me discharged quickly! I need to go back and revive the Sterling family!”
I pulled my hand free and pressed the emergency call button. In less than a minute, several burly male orderlies walked in.
I politely stated, “This patient has aggressive tendencies. Please control him. We wouldn’t want him hurting anyone.”
The men immediately moved in, pinning a struggling Sebastian firmly to the hospital bed and strapping his hands and feet down. I sat by the bedside, watching his twisted, frantic expression, and elegantly pulled out a small box.
“Sebastian, my first visit to you. A small gift.”
It was a Bluetooth speaker, endlessly looping the threatening phone calls that had driven him mad.
