grave.
“You forced Bellona to use her weak divination powers, and then you condemned her to a fate worse than death, marrying her off to that brute! You must pay for your crimes!”
Now, I find myself back in time, witnessing Prince Alex kneeling before Luna Saline, his eyes ablaze with fury.
“Mother, I refuse to marry Amelia. She’s just an orphan, a nobody! How could someone without the Seer’s bloodline possibly have the power to predict our Pack’s destiny?”

Luna Saline’s gaze lands on me, her eyes narrowing like a predator sizing up its prey.
“Amelia Wight, is what the prince says true?”
I fall to my knees, my forehead touching the cold, hard stone of the throne room.
“It is, Luna Saline. I am but an adopted child. The Seer took pity on me and gave me a name, a place in his household.”
The Luna’s expression turns icy, her wolfish eyes glowing with anger.

“Yes, Luna. I am guilty,” I mutter, my voice barely above a whisper.
Prince Alex looks taken aback by my admission.
Then, he bows respectfully to his mother.
“Please, Mother, arrange my marriage to Bellona Wright. As the Seer’s true daughter, she will be the perfect Luna, a powerful ally in my quest to lead our Pack to greatness. Amelia may have been misguided, but since she has confessed, let us show mercy. Have her copy the sacred scrolls a hundred times, to atone for her sins and pray for my union with Bellona.”

I inwardly scoff at his false kindness.
