Chapter 22
Samuel’s POV
The attack came out of nowhere. One second I was standing there, and the next, blinding pain tore through my lower abdomen.
I hissed, grabbing Larissa’s wrist and shoving her away from me with every ounce of strength I had.
Blood gushed out instantly. Warm. Fast. I clutched my stomach, my fingers soaked in red. My vision swam, and I struggled to stay upright.
“Get the pack doctor–now! And drag that filthy woman out of here!”

The last thing I saw before everything went dark was the panic in everyone’s eyes. Then, I passed out.
When I finally came to, days had passed. The sterile scent of the infirmary stung my nose, and the pain in my gut let me know I was very much alive.
The pack doctor let out a long breath of relief when he saw me open my eyes.
“Samuel, thank the moon,” he said. “If Larissa had put any real strength behind that dagger, even the gods couldn’t have saved you. You’re lucky. But you’ll need plenty of rest if you want that wound to heal properly.”
I barely heard him. The second I moved, the pain in my stomach flared up again. I groaned, pressing my hand to the bandages.

But that wasn’t what really had my heart pounding.
“Felicia…” I croaked. “Has she returned to the pack?”
The doctor blinked. “Uh, yes–yes. Miss Felicia came back to Moonfang Pack today, I believe. But Samuel–hey, you can’t get up yet!”
Too late. The second I heard she was back, I threw off the covers. Pain be damned. I forced myself upright, ignored the burn in my gut, shoved past the doctor, and pulled on my clothes.
Every step toward the packhouse was agony, but I didn’t stop. I couldn’t.
And then I saw them.

Felicia. Kevin.
They had just returned, and they were sitting together in the back of a sleek black car, laughing like the world was theirs. So damn cozy it made my blood boil.
Kevin reached up and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, and Felicia blushed. She swatted at his hand playfully, like it was the most natural thing in the world.
I froze in place. Watching them. My chest burned with something sharp and ugly.
That used to be me.
That was supposed to be me.
If Larissa hadn’t ruined everything between us, if I hadn’t been so blind–how the hell did it end up being Kevin?

Didn’t someone say Felicia would never choose Kevin as her mate? What a joke. They’re perfect together.”
“Kevin’s heading to the border soon, right? Once he leads the army to wipe out the rogue wolves, he’s coming back as Alpha heir, not just Beta heir. That’s the kind of mate Felicia deserves.”
Their voices surrounded me like a swarm of hornets, each word a fresh sting.

I couldn’t tear my eyes away from that car. From them.
And not a single damn person noticed me standing there. Not one.
When the car finally pulled into the villa, I stumbled after it, rage tightening every muscle in my body.
I threw open the door to Felicia’s residence, and there they were.
Kissing.
Kevin’s hands on her waist. Her fingers curled into his shirt.
“Kevin!” I bellowed, the sound tearing from my throat like a roar. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?!”

Felicia’s POV
They clearly hadn’t expected him to show up -honestly, neither had I.
Queenie looked like she’d seen a ghost, and even Kevin paused for half a second. Me? I was mostly just mortified. Of all the moments for someone to walk in… why did it have to be when I was wrapped up in Kevin’s arms, lips still tingling from where he’d just kissed me breathless?
Kevin, of course, didn’t care. He just chuckled lazily and pulled me closer, like he was proud of the whole scandalous display.
“Can’t you see I’m being affectionate with my wife?” he said with that infuriating smirk of his. “No one invited you to stand there like a statue, Samuel. Shut the door on your way

out.”
Samuel’s face went crimson. He didn’t storm off though–he came closer, eyes locked on mine, full of something I hadn’t seen in a long time.
Guilt. Regret. Desperation.
“Felicia,” he said, voice shaking a little. “I know I messed up. I’ve ended things with Larissa. It’s over. I want you back. Please… let’s start over. This time, I’ll love you right. I swear I’ll never hurt you again.”
I didn’t even get the chance to answer- Kevin bristled beside me, his arm tightening around my waist like he was holding himself back from decking the guy. I could feel the low growl rumbling in his chest, even if he didn’t say a word.

But I heard what Samuel really meant. That subtle, desperate plea beneath the surface. He was trying to dig up the past like it hadn’t already been buried.
I looked Samuel straight in the eye, calm and unmoved. “I thought I made myself clear in that letter,‘ I said. “I don’t love you anymore. I meant every word. Please stop coming here.”
But Samuel didn’t flinch. He didn’t move.
He dropped to his knees.
Just like that.
“Felicia,” he choked out. “I’ve finally realized it. It was always you. Always. It was Larissa misled me and pretended to be my fate mate.who came between us–I see that now. Just one more chance, please. Don’t give up on us. We’re fate mate.”
