Chapter 1
I, Felicia Howell, was the Moonfang Pack’s little princess–the one everyone doted on. The only heir to Alpha Godfrey.
From the time I could walk, my father had handpicked four of the pack’s golden boys to be my fiancés.
But in my previous life, when I turned eighteen and had my coming–of–age ceremony, I didn’t match with any of them. Not a single one.
And strangely enough, none of the four matched with their fated mates that night either.

of us have to travel far and wide to find the one the Moon Goddess intended.
But my father? He didn’t care for that. He refused to let me leave Moonfang to search for mine.
Instead, he insisted I pick one of the four boys I’d grown up with. Whoever I chose would not only be my mate, but also the next Alpha of Moonfang Pack.
And me? I was young. Hopeful. Stupid. So when my father asked me who I wanted to marry, I blushed like an idiot and chose the one I liked the most–Gamma Samuel.
We got married.
He died less than a year later.

widow’s black like it was stitched into my soul.
Then, just before my death, in the twilight of my years, I ran into him, Samuel. Alive.
He was in Aurora Howl Pack, holding Larissa, the High Priestess’s illegitimate daughter, under a blooming cherry tree. They were kissing.
That’s when the truth hit me like a silver bullet through the chest.
Samuel had found his fated mate during our coming–of–age ceremony. It was Larissa. But he’d lied. Told my father he hadn’t found anyone. Then he married me, faked his death, and disappeared from the pack–just to be with her.

mate.
Then, on my journey back to Moonfang, I was ambushed by rogue wolves. Samuel died protecting me.
With blood bubbling from his lips, he looked me in the eye and whispered,
“Felicia… I shouldn’t have lied. But my heart was never yours–it was always Larissa’s. I trade my life to save hers. If there’s a next life… please don’t choose me.”
I closed my eyes, tears blurring the world.
When I opened them-
“Felicia, which of these four do you want to choose as your mate?”

That voice–my father’s voice–young and firm again.
I looked up to see my father standing tall, smiling, with four photographs laid neatly on the table before me.
I’d been reborn.
I was back. Back to the day I was supposed to choose my mate.
“I mean, you’ve been following Samuel around like a lost pup for years,” my father teased. “I suppose it’s going to be him again? I’ll go ahead and arrange the-”
“No!” I shouted. The word tore out of my throat, so sharp and loud it startled even me.

fingers. “What’s wrong?”
I clenched my sleeves, heart pounding like a war drum. Images from my past life flashed before me–Samuel’s betrayal, his final words: Don’t choose me.
“I… I’m not choosing Samuel,” I said, voice trembling.
Panicked, I reached out and grabbed the nearest photo without even looking. “I choose him.”
I flipped it over–almost bit my tongue.
It was Kevin Menzie.
Shirtless. Punching a sandbag. That cocky smirk on his lips like he owned the world.

sworn enemy.
“Kevin?” my father choked, blinking in disbelief. “That Kevin? Weren’t you two mortal enemies? Wasn’t it just last month he scratched up your limited edition handbag, and you chased him across half the pack’s border?”
Yeah. That was Kevin, alright.
Beta Kevin. The Moonfang Pack’s infamous troublemaker. The guy I fought with every time we were in the same room.
But in my past life, he’d become the most powerful werewolf this side of the Mississippi–yet stayed as our pack’s Beta till the end. He never married. Died in a rogue ambush.

about this?”
I took a deep breath.
“Yes,” I said. “I choose him.”
In my past life, Kevin and I fought like cats and dogs. But compared to my cold, lifeless marriage to Samuel, those wild arguments with Kevin felt… warm. Alive.
Maybe this is fate. Maybe I came back to take a different path.
One I never dared walk before.
My father hesitated, then nodded. “So be it. Kevin may be reckless, but his strength surpasses the others. He’ll make a fine Alpha beside you!”
