In the video, someone shouted playfully, “So when are you marrying Elise?”
Alpha Jerome chuckled roguishly. “As soon as I get rid of that old hag at
home.”
But before the video could finish,
Alpha Jerome shot to his feet.

But in the next second, he must’ve hit the wrong button–because a different clip began to play.
It was from the night I got drunk–my clothes disheveled, my face flushed

if nailed to the floor.

was no breakdown in my eyes, no tears like he expected.
Just calm indifference. “I’m leaving.
You all enjoy yourselves.”
Alpha Jerome’s expression fell immediately. Beta Conrad rushed
over to smooth things over.
“Come on, Luna Audrey, it was just some dumb joke. Don’t be mad at Alpha Jerome.”
Before he could finish, the sound of shattering glass cut through the
room.
Alpha Jerome’s voice was like shards of ice. “Let her get the hell out.
Shameless bitch.”

I looked away, lifted my feet, and walked out.
My flight was tomorrow afternoon, and I still had a few things left to pack.
As Alpha Jerome watched me leave without hesitation, he suddenly
flipped the table in a fury.
Crashes and gasps echoed behind me, but none of it had anything to do with
me anymore.
The next morning, I checked my luggage one last time and made myself a simple breakfast.

Dark circles shadowed his eyes, and there was a faint bruise along his jawline–he looked like he hadn’t slept a wink.
He stared at me for a long moment, as if trying to say something. But in the end, he did what he always did- handed me a thick envelope.
“This month’s allowance is halved. Consider it punishment for your little stunt yesterday. Don’t let it happen again.”
I didn’t respond. I stood and walked toward the bedroom.
As I was about to close the door
behind me, I noticed Elise slipping in after me.

really sorry for burning your hair. Here, I got you a new one.”
She raised it like she meant to shove it
onto my head.
Her movements were aggressive,
and beneath the surface she was
practically giddy. Her intent was
obvious.
I grabbed her wrist, voice like frost. “Stay away from me.”
Elise sneered, all pretense gone.
“You filthy bitch. I was being nice!”
And with that, she whipped out a needle hidden in the wig and drove it
straight into my lower abdomen.

Halfway out, he turned back and caught a glimpse of me hunched over in pain, clutching my stomach.

I dropped to my knees, weakened, but after a moment, I pushed myself back to my feet.
With a heavy breath, I grabbed my suitcase and walked out of that sickening house for good.
