Chapter 5
The police arrival instantly shattered the celebratory atmosphere.[]
Our old classmates panicked, some not even daring to lift their heads.[]
They were terrified the cops would come after them.]
Kieran looked confused as he turned to Autumn:[]
“What’s going on? Why are the police here?”]
A flash of guilt crossed Autumn’s eyes before she stammered:[]
“My… my classmates said they wanted to punish a homewrecker for me, so they taught some woman a lesson.“[]
Kieran’s expression grew uncomfortable: “Homewrecker? What homewrecker?“]
“You know you’re the only one in my heart. How could I possibly have another woman?“|]
Autumn pouted innocently:[]
“Okay, maybe I got it wrong.“]]
“But even if she’s not your side piece, she’s still a bitch who came here to ruin my wedding. Everyone was right to teach her a lesson.”
Our classmates immediately backed her up with shameless lies:[]
“Exactly! This bitch was always competing with Autumn in high school, always jealous when Autumn did better than her!“]]
“Autumn was nice enough to invite her to the wedding, but she came here to cause trouble!“]
“Right, she was always targeting Autumn at school. We just couldn’t stand watching her be so arrogant!“]]
These classmates came here today specifically to get in good with Autumn.[]
Now they had the perfect chance to trash me and praise Autumn in front of Kieran.]
Autumn’s mom also chimed in:]
“My dear son–in–law, my daughter has been so excited about your wedding. That bitch showed up and started causing problems–if you don’t teach her a lesson, where does that leave your reputation?“]
After hearing them out, Kieran nodded slightly:
“If she was bullying Autumn, then teaching her a lesson isn’t a problem.“]]
Seeing that Kieran approved of their actions, Autumn immediately felt emboldened.]
Chapter 5
She straightened up and faced the police confidently:
“Officers, someone came to disrupt my wedding first. We only fought back because we had no choice.”
The police frowned and said firmly:]
“Whatever the details are, you’re all coming to the station for questioning!“]
Hearing this, the classmates who’d beaten me up panicked again.[]
But Autumn remained defiant: “I’m not going. Today is my wedding day–I’m not spending it at a police station.“]
Then she turned to Kieran:[]
“Honey, you’re a billionaire with connections everywhere. Tell the police to back off!”
The others also looked to Kieran desperately:[]
“That’s right, Mr. Holt! Someone as important as you–the police will definitely show you respect.“]
“Today is your and Autumn’s big day. Making everyone go to the station would be so embarrassing for you!“]
“Exactly, you’re the richest man in Chicago. One word from you and this whole thing goes away.“]]
Autumn’s mom added: “My dear son–in–law, today is your and my daughter’s special day. All our family and friends are watching–we can’t lose face like this!“||]
Faced with everyone’s desperate pleas, Kieran approached the police with an arrogant air:
“Officers, I’m Kieran Holt, CEO of Phoenix Industries. I know your police commissioner. Can we just drop this?“]
The police hesitated for a moment, then replied seriously:]
“Your people assaulted someone. It doesn’t matter who you know.“]]
“Besides, it’s not my decision to make–don’t put me in a difficult position.“]
“Unless you can get the victim to forgive you and drop the charges!”
Hearing this, Kieran’s lips curved into a confident smile:[]
“That’s easy. I don’t believe anyone would dare cross Kieran Holt!“]
Then he turned to Autumn:
“Where’s the person you beat up?”
Autumn immediately led Kieran through the crowd, pointing at me and shouting:]
“Honey, it’s this bitch right here!“[]
