Chapter 7 Invitation
Michael then walked away.
Lily sank to the ground, dazed, sifting through the grass as if she might find any remnants of the moonstone.
She had gotten it for Michael.

Three days later, she returned to Alpha Manor, resuming her role as Michael’s assistant.
Though her injuries from the accident had healed, the effects of the wolfsbane were only getting worse.
Louis visited her at home, trying repeatedly to talk her out of it, but she refused to listen.
That night, Michael took her to another party.
People kept offering her drinks, and she accepted every one without hesitation.
“Lily is unbelievable! She can hold her liquor better than a werewolf warrior!” someone joked.
The alcohol burned in her stomach, yet she ignored the discomfort. Amid the loud chatter, Michael sat silently, watching her.
Once again, she drank through the entire party.
Near the end, she slipped away to the restroom and swallowed two pills in secret.
Pushing past the pain, she returned to the private room–only to find it empty.
Michael was gone. Lily wasn’t surprised as she had long grown used to him leaving her behind. She stepped outside to flag down a cab.
The night air was sharp and cold against her skin.
Streetlights and passing cars blurred in her vision.
Unsteady on her feet, she drifted toward the road, raising a hand to stop a car.
A loud honk pierced the silence.
A car sped toward her, its horn blaring at the sight of a figure stepping into its path.
Lily was slow to react, just as the vehicle was about to hit her, a strong hand yanked her back onto the sidewalk.
Warm breath brushed against her skin.
She lifted her head and met Michael’s furious gaze. “Do you have a death wish?”
Lily stared at him, dazed, her mind suddenly empty.
The two were close, and suddenly, a memory from years ago surfaced in her mind–a beach party they had attended together.
Lily had never seen the ocean before, and she was thrilled to collect seashells along the shore.
While exploring, a crab pinched her, causing her to stumble.
Michael reacted instantly, catching her in his arms, and in the rush of movement, their lips brushed together.
Instead of pulling away, he deepened the kiss, his breath growing heavier.

Everyone else was mesmerized by the waves, unaware that the most admired boy in the training camp was passionately kissing her.
The salty breeze carried the warmth of a bonfire, the laughter of friends, and the fleeting essence of youth
Amid a lively crowd, they surrendered to the emotions they had long kept hidden.
Looking back, it was the most precious moment of her life.
Lily wondered if Michael remembered too, as he held on for a long time without letting go.
A sudden, sharp voice broke the silence behind them. “What are you two doing?”
Melanie had come to fetch Michael and had witnessed everything.
Michael snapped back to reality, quickly releasing Lily, an unreadable emotion flickering in his eyes.
Without a word, he turned and walked over to Melanie. “It’s nothing. Let’s go.
Melanie shot Lily a cold glare before gripping Michael’s hand and leading him away.
Lily–remained frozen, as if caught between consciousness and a dream, lost in the past.
It wasn’t until Louis came looking for her that he finally brought the dazed Lily back.
Later that night, as Lily arrived home, she noticed an envelope in the mailbox by her door.
It was an invitation to the 298th Werewolf Training Camp Comrades‘ Banquet.
