The following day, Lily took a break from work and made her way to the Moon Goddess Sanctuary.
Nestled in Bluemoon Valley, the sanctuary was a sacred site for werewolves, a place of worship and devotion.
Over the years, Lily had visited countless times, kneeling before the statue of the Moon Goddess to offer her prayers.
She had always wished for Jessica’s happiness in the afterlife and Michael’s safety and well–being-
But she might not get the chance to come back again.
Kneeling before the statue, she poured her heart into her prayers, believing that the Moon Goddess could hear the voices of her kind.
That night, an unexpected snowstorm rolled in
The fierce wind and ice–cold flakes struck Lily
body, leaving her lightheaded from the chill.
A deep ache spread through her limbs, and despite the freezing air, sweat broke out on her skin.
Lily trembled violently as fresh blood seeped from her wounds once more.
The wolfsbane’s effects were relentless, outpacing her body’s ability to heal. Even so, she refused to move.
Shifting into her wolf form, she braved the bitter cold, her fur soaking up the blood as she stayed in prayer for an entire day. and night.
By morning, the werewolf priest arrived to clean the sanctuary and was met with a pitiful sight–a small wolf, half–buried in snow. Concerned, he approached.
“What happened to you, child?” he asked gently.
Lily shifted back into her human form, struggling to stand as she left behind a crimson imprint in the snow.
Bowing respectfully, she whispered, “Great priest, does the Moon Goddess hear my prayers?”
The priest sighed and placed a moonstone in her hands. “She has heard you. Now, go home, child.”
The moonstone, a sacred gift from the Moon Goddess, was given to werewolves who sought peace in their prayers.
Holding it tightly, Lily trembled as she made her way to the Alpha Manor.
That was the only thing she could leave behind for Michael before she was gone.
She knew he would never accept a gift from her. So, when no one was around, she discreetly placed the moonstone on his desk at noon.
After stepping out of his study, she didn’t leave. She lingered in the hallway near the dining room, wanting to see if he would keep the moonstone with him. She waited for him to finish his work and come to dinner.
At 6:30 p.m., Michael came downstairs, carrying the bag that held the moonstone.
Lily’s eyes brightened–until she saw him hand the bag to a servant and gesture toward a specific direction.
That led to the garbage dump.-
Her heart sank, and she quickly followed the servant.
As expected, the servant headed straight toward the dump, ready to discard the moonstone.
Panicking, Lily darted forward just as the servant was about to throw it away. “Stop!” she called out, snatching the bag.

But when she opened it, it was empty inside.
Then, Michael’s cold voice rang out behind her. “I knew it was you
Lily’s breath caught as she slowly turned, her mind blank. Michael stood there, still holding the moonstone.
His assistant left without a word.
Michael stepped closer, his gaze icy. “You owe Jessica. Do you think this ridiculous gesture will make up for it?

Meanwhile, Michael crushed the moonstone in his hand.
“No!”

She lunged forward, trying to stop him, but it was useless. The moonstone crumbled into dust, carried away by the wind until nothing remained.
It was just like her life–nothing more than a fleeting illusion.
