She reached for his hand, but he abruptly stood up.
“I still have work to finish. You should go home,” he said.
Melanie had hoped to stay the night, but hearing his words, she reluctantly left.
Back in his study, Michael skimmed through the paperwork, but his mind was elsewhere, restless and unsettled.
Finally, he called for another assistant.
“Find out where Lily is right now,”
There was a tremor in his voice.
The assistant confirmed and got to work. A few minutes later, he returned with news.
“Alpha, Lily had a car accident a few hours ago. She’s in the hospital but out of danger.”
Michael remained silent for a long time, holding the phone.
