Chapter 22 Thank You for Waking Up
Lucy stood there, helpless, as she witnessed this rare, vulnerable side of
chael.
For some reason, she didn’t want to see him so downcast and despondent. After a pause, she ventured, “I know this might be out of line, Alpha, but have you considered explaining everything to Lily? Maybe you can’t go back to how things were, but at the very least, she should know how much you care.
“No,” Michael replied with a bitter smile, shaking his head. “It’s too late now.”
Lucy was too young to grasp the depth of pain and regret in that sigh. She couldn’t understand that Michael would never forgive himself for what he had done.
After the doctors treated Cici’s allergies, they noticed Michael’s leg twitching unnaturally.
“You’ve got a fracture,” the doctor diagnosed, glancing at Michael’s pale face. “Is your wolf unwell too?”
Michael nodded indifferently. “There are more important matters to handle right now. I don’t need treatment.”
He stood, carefully testing his ankle, which was now partially numb from pain. Then he left the clinic and headed back to the operating room.
The red light above the operating room door was still on. Michael paused, asking the nurse, “Is it not over yet?”
Recognizing him, the nurse shook her head. “She’s been moved to the ICU. This is the second surgery now.”
Taking a deep breath, Michael felt a wave of dizziness but managed to steady himself, even as he stumbled and on his injured ankle. For the first time in days, he genuinely smiled.
put pressure
Lucy’s words echoed in his mind. Although he knew they were merely the well–meaning thoughts of an outsider, he couldn’t help but imagine. If Lily survived, if she was okay, would there be a chance he could hear her forgiveness directly from her?.
Deep down, perhaps even to himself, Michael harbored a sliver of hope they could reconcile.
They had once been so in love. Everyone in their training camp had known about their romance, and even their mentors had given their blessings. Back then, Lily had been the happiest girl in the world.
Michael still wanted to see Lily happy.
He rubbed his face, aware that such thoughts were pointless fantasies, but even these dreams made him feel a fleeting sense. of joy.
just wanted to
Human nature can be so greedy. Previously, Michael had see Lily once more. Now, he hoped he could hold her hand forever.
He was indeed too greedy.
With these hidden thoughts, Michael made his way to the ICU. Through the glass walls, he could clearly see Louis bending down to gently kiss Lily’s check.
“Thank you,” Louis said, his eyes red, choked with emotion. “Thank you for waking up, Lily.”
Lily reached out to touch Louis’s face, her hand adorned with tubes and an oxygen mask covering her mouth.
“Thank you,” she said softly, her eyes closed. “Louis, if it weren’t for you, I might have died three years ago. I wouldn’t have had Cici or any hope for future happiness…
Louis’s tears fell on her cheeks. Lily smiled faintly. “Thank you, Moon Goddess, for giving me a second chance. Thank you for loving me.”
“Silly.” Louis smiled through his tears, “That’s my line.

Chapter 22 Thank You for Waking Up
Through the oxygen mask, he softly kissed his beloved.
Michael stood outside the glass, his body as cold as ice, fully understanding why Lily chose this moment to express her feelings to Louis,
Lily, always so kind and considerate, knew her surgery was risky and didn’t want to make any promises before it was successful. Now, with the surgery behind her, she could finally open her heart to Louis.
There was no pain greater than this–greater than the searing pain in his heart and stomach. The fractured ankle now seemed insignificant.
Michael walked away, not wanting to see their intimate moment any longer. Leaning against the wall, he let his tears flow freely.
The incident of Cici’s allergic reaction and subsequent shock was kept from Lily. Her surgery had just ended, and everyone agreed not to add any more stress to her recovery,
While Louis pondered how to explain the concept of allergies to Cici, she had already come up with an explanation for Lily.
“Mommy loves me so much. I’ll just tell her I don’t like peanuts, and she won’t give me any,” she said.
Lucy nodded, “Cici, you’re so smart.”
Elsewhere, after feeding Lily some liquid food, Louis gently kissed her cheek.
Lucy felt the strong love between the new mates.
As she held Cici, still thinking about her suspicions, Lucy couldn’t help but ask Louis, “Why does Cici call you Uncle Louis?”
Given that they were mates now, Cici should logically call Louis daddy.
Louis suddenly understood Lucy’s confusion. Talking about Cici’s origins, his expression turned somber.
“Do you remember my sister?”
Of course, Lucy remembered.
