Thinking this, Lily felt a sense of calm wash over her.

Her hospital room was in a prime location, offering a view of snow–covered forests and mountains. The winter afternoon sun brought a gentle warmth. Lily pulled a chair over to the window and sat downL
There was a slow, deliberate knock at the door. Glancing at the clock, she figured it was time for the doctor’s rounds. Raising her voice, she called out, “Come in.” She turned to see who it was, and her expression froze.
It was Michael.
Three years had matured him significantly. He looked leaner in his overcoat, making his features appear even more sharp and cold. His dark brows shadowed his eyes, but they couldn’t hide the fervent joy underneath.
“I found you.” Michael’s voice trembled, choked with emotion. He took a step forward, dropping the large bouquet he held. He rushed forward and wrapped his arms around the seated Lily. “I found you, Lily!”
Lily was momentarily surprised but quickly regained her composure.
She had known that seeking treatment at the Bluemoon Pack hospital would inevitably lead to Michael finding her, so she didn’t struggle.
Michael’s clung tightly to her shoulders. She could feel the warm, wet drops from his tears trickling down her neck, dampening her skin.
“It’s me,” Lily said calmly. “Michael, it’s been a long time.”
“Why…” Michael’s sobs made him shake, his breaths coming in ragged gasps. “Why did you want to die? Why didn’t you tell me about the wolfsbane? Why did you lie to me…
The Alpha of Bluemoon Pack cried like a deceived child, neurotically clinging to Lily and repeating her name, almost as if convinced she was a figment of his dreams.
Lily felt a wave of irritation. Frowning, she softly said, “Michael, if you don’t let go, you’ll strangle me.
Michael stepped back and collapsed onto the floor, staring up at Lily in the chair.
He looked utterly broken, his eyes, nose, and brow all red. His forehead was damp, possibly from sweat or melted snow.
His hands continued to tremble as he held Lily’s cold, slender hand, trying to stifle his sobbing, but the tears kept flowing.
This was the only other time Lily had seen Michael in such a state–since Jessica had died.
“Don’t leave.” He pleaded, his voice still quivering. He grasped for her retreating hand, “Lily, please, don’t go.”
“I’m not planning to go anywhere.” Lily immediately withdrew her hand again, looking down at Michael. “But you need to leave.”
Michael’s lips turned ashen, understanding the clear rejection in Lily’s demeanor. He began to recall the things he had done in the past.
Lily’s expression remained calm, completely indifferent to Michael.
“I forgot my manners, Michael,” she spoke softly. “How are things with your Luna? Do you have children yet? I should mention, Louis and I have formed a mate pact.”
“Our daughter’s name is Cici. I believe you’ve met her.”
These words hit Michael like a sledgehammer. His ears rang, overwhelmed by the buzzing that drowned out the world
around him.

Fear gripped him, his lips trembling though no words came out.
Lily watched the change in his expression with mild amusement.

I’ve finally gathered the courage to undergo this surgery, clinging to life,” she said quietly. “Michael, don’t push me to give up again.”
Her words cut like a sharp knife, causing so much pain that it left his heart struggling to function. He clutched his chest, gasping for air.
Michael steadied himself, gripping the head of the hospital bed, his face pale as paper.
He knew Lily meant what she said, so he dared not utter another word. Nodding mutely, he turned and left the room.
His steps were unsteady, and Lily watched his retreating figure in silence for a long time.
She found that she no longer harbored overwhelming hatred in her heart. The feelings had been diluted over the years, washed away by Louis’s unwavering care and Cici’s love. Seeing Michael again, she felt nothing beyond mild surprise.
Perhaps this is for the best. She thought. If he doesn’t interfere with me, I won’t interfere with him. We were always just two parallel lines connected by Jessica. Now that she’s gone, we should go back to our respective paths.
The nurse cleaned up the flower petals from the floor. When Louis returned, he immediately sensed someone had been there. He wrinkled his nose and frowned. “What an unpleasant smell.”
Lily didn’t hide it from him. “Michael was here.”
He rushed over like a guard dog, inspecting Lilly for any signs of harm. She stood with a smile, letting him inspect her for any potential injury. “I’m fine.”
“You scared me.” Louis sighed in relief, resting his head on her shoulder. “I thought he’d take you away. I’m so glad you’re safe. Lily, let’s go back to Southlands after your surgery, okay?”
“Okay” Lily agreed, thinking of the warm, inviting climate of the Southlands. Winter in the Bluemoon Pack was painfully cold; even sunlight felt like a rare treasure.
And she smiled.
