Marvin cleared his throat, sounding a bit expectant.
“Roderick, I talked to your aunt and we think October 10th is a good day. How about we set the wedding date then?”
Matilda’s eyelashes fluttered lightly, her hopeful gaze fixed on Roderick.
The latter paused with the glass in hand, furrowing his brow imperceptibly.
“Was the second half of the year too rushed? Many things were not ready yet.”
Caroline quickly spoke up.
“We’ve got the wedding planning team all set, venue decoration, custom–made wedding dress, all top–notch arrangements, leave these trivial matters to us, time is definitely enough.”
Marvin nodded in agreement.
“Yeah, we know you run the company, busy all day. Just leave it to your aunt and Matilda to handle the wedding.”
Roderick picked up his glass of wine, his eyes dark and unclear.
“Marriage is a big deal in life, shouldn’t be rushed, take it slow.”
Caroline sensed his indifference, his smile still on his face, but with a hint of probing in his words.
“Roderick, we’ve known each other’s families for so long, we’re like

family. This marriage is a perfect match, let’s settle it sooner rather than later, it will benefit both of our families‘ cooperation.”
Marvin’s eyes flickered slightly as he quickly picked up the conversation.
“Your aunt is right, our two families have been cooperating very well in business these years. If we can get even closer, there will be nothing we can’t achieve in the future.”
Caroline turned her head and looked at Matilda beside her.
“Matilda always liked you, she even said she wouldn’t marry anyone else. As parents, our only wish is for our children to be happy.”
“Over the years, she had been looking forward to this day. If you could get married earlier, it would also fulfill her wish.”
“Mom!”
Matilda suddenly raised her voice.
“Don’t push Roderick anymore…”
She turned to look at Roderick, with tears in her eyes, pretending to be caring.
“Roderick, take your time. I’ll wait no matter how long.”
Roderick heard these words, and he felt even more agitated.
He never really understood the benefits behind the marriage alliance between the two families, but the thought of marrying someone he didn’t love filled him with resistance.
Especially when I think about Andrea, that feeling of not wanting to settle is even stronger.

He forced out a smile and said, …
“I understand what you two mean, just marriage is a big deal, we still need to be more cautious.”
The excuses were still the same old dodges.
Marvin and Caroline glanced at each other, a hint of displeasure in their eyes.
Marvin was about to speak again, but Roderick stood up first.
“Sorry, I need to go to the bathroom.”
He walked out of the compartment quickly, took a deep breath, and tried to calm down the agitation in his heart.
Just then, he caught a glimpse of a familiar graceful figure out of the corner of his eye.
Roderick froze for a moment, turning his head in disbelief.
Through the half–open compartment door, he saw Quinn smiling at Andrea, and Andrea’s cheeks seemed to be blushing.
Reason went out the window in an instant, Roderick felt a surge of nameless anger rising in his heart, and he unconsciously walked towards that compartment.
He reached out, pushed open the door of the compartment, and fixed his gaze on Andrea, with a tone of questioning and urgency.
“Andrea, what are you doing here?”
The moment Roderick burst into the compartment, the light from the crystal chandelier suddenly stabbed Andrea’s pupils.
